Franklin Lady Hornets post overtime victory over SMHS
The Franklin Lady Hornets went on a 13-4 spurt in overtime to hold off the St. Martinville Lady Tigers 50-41 Tuesday at the FSHS Gym.
Franklin and St. Martinville played to a 10-10 tie in the first stanza before the Lady Tigers claimed a 24-17 cushion at the half. SMHS’ Lady Tigers secured a 31-28 advantage at the end of three quarters before Franklin fought back to tie the game at 37-37 at the end of regulation. Franklin went on a pulsating 13-4 run during the extra session strolling away with the 50-41 overtime victory.
Fabian Small led the Lady Hornets with 25 points on 11 field goals and 3 of 13 free throws. Wynesha Jenkins added nine points on four floor shots and 1 of 1 charity shots. Chardonnae Parker tossed in seven points on one field goal and 5 of 8 freebies. Mai Francis and Quanta Jones each had one 3-pointer while Kaira Butler and Samantha Frederick had two points apiece.
Franklin will continue action tonight at Cecilia before hosting the Centerville Lady Bulldogs next Tuesday at home.
