Midland wins over Centerville

CENTERVILLE _ Midland girls and boys notched victories over the Centerville girls and boys here Tuesday at the CHS Gym.
In the opener, the Midland Lady Rockets earned a 42-22 win over the Centerville Lady Bulldogs, who are now 4-5 on the season.
Midland used a strong first half surge to turn back the Centerville Lady Bulldogs.
Kristen Breaux led Midland with 14 points while Macy Hoffpauir chipped in 12 points.
Leading scorers for the CHS Lady Bulldogs were: Roshayla Gunner, 7; Alyrria Austin, 4; Kayla Robinson, 4; Jasmine Gunner, 3; Kenaytra Kennedy, 2, and Hailey McDaniel, 2.
Traven Guidry, Dylan Boudreaux and Devin Gautreaux all scored in double figures to lead the Midland Rockets to a 58-48 win over the Centerville Bulldogs.
Guidry tossed in a game-high 19 points while Boudreaux contributed 11 and Gautreaux recorded 10.
Centerville’s top scorers were Jaylon Williams and Marvin Strawder.
Williams canned a team-high 17 points on six deuces, two treys and 1 of 2 free throws.
Strawder collected 13 points on five field goals and 3 of 6 charity shots.
Rounding out the scoring for the Centerville Bulldogs were: Cameron Pogue, 7; Lance Howard, 6; Cole Candella, 2; Rodrick Harris, 2, and Christian Arias, 1.
Centerville boys and girls will be at Catholic High of New Iberia on Thursday.
