PC meeting Wednesday

Members of the St. Mary Parish Council will take up the issue of the Hospital Service District 1 Board of Commissioners when they meet in regular session Wednesday. The council is meeting a week early due to the Christmas holidays next week.
Following public comment the council will meet in executive session to “investigative proceedings regarding allegations of misconduct relative to members of the Hospital Service District No. 1 Board of Commissioners.”
Other items on the agenda related to the board that oversees Franklin Foundation Hospital include:
—Discussion and action pursuant to the provisions of state statute which provides: “Any member of the commission may be removed from office for cause and his appointment rescinded by two-thirds vote of the elected membership of the parish governing authority which appointed him.” This item was placed on the agenda by Councilman David Hanagriff.
—Discussion and action relative to retaining a mediator to assist the hospital district and any other necessary parties to resolve any existing issues. This item was placed on the agenda by Councilman Lionel “Butch” Metz.
There’s also a letter posted to the council from Allen Sanders, president and general manager of SAS Construction, to express the company’s “displeasure with the recent developments at Franklin Foundation Hospital.”
Nonrelated items on the agenda include consideration of an ordinance to amend the current fiscal year budget and numerous resolutions. A public hearing on the budget ordinance will convene at 5:45 p.m.
A meeting of the newly created Road District 1 will be called at 5:50 p.m. to consider the call of a special election.
The regular meeting begins at 6 p.m. All sessions will be held on the fifth floor of the courthouse in Franklin at 500 Main St.
