Executive director of Shrimp & Petroluem Festival named
Darby Isham has been appointed the new executive director of the Louisiana Shrimp and Petroleum Festival.
The appointment was announced Thursday afternoon in a news release from the festival’s board of directors.
Isham has accepted the board’s offer to hold the position.
Isham is a 2011 graduate of Morgan City High School and a December 2014 graduate of Louisiana State University. She graduated from LSU with a bachelor of arts degree in mass communication with a concentration in public relations. She was recognized as one of 14 in the December class to graduate as a Distinguished Communicator. The Communications across the Curriculum program recognizes students who exceed communication expectations in the technological, written, visual and spoken fields.
While at LSU, Isham was an active member of her sorority, Delta Zeta. She was the advertising director in 2013 and co-executive director in 2014 for the Miss LSU-USA Pageant Delta Zeta hosts. She helped to raise more than $100,000 for Delta Zeta’s national and local philanthropies over the past two years.
Isham has worked with Sapphire Events, an event planning company based in New Orleans for almost two years. She has also interned with Louisiana Travel Promotion Association, a non-profit organization working in the private sector of Louisiana tourism during her last semester at LSU.
Isham will begin her employment as the executive director of the festival Jan. 15.
The board looks forward to working with Isham as planning the 80th Louisiana Shrimp and Petroleum Festival proceeds, the news release said.
