Prep hoops power rankings
Central Catholic and Berwick made the biggest jumps in the latest boys’ basketball power rankings released by the Louisiana High School Athletic Association Tuesday morning.
Central Catholic, ranked No. 31 a week ago, is now ranked No. 18 in the Class 1A poll.
Meanwhile Berwick, ranked No. 49 last week, is No. 38 in this week’s Class 3A rankings.
While much smaller in movement, both Morgan City and Patterson made gains from a week ago. Morgan City is ranked No. 33 in Class 4A, up two spots from last week, while Patterson is up one spot to No. 12 in Class 3A.
Edna Karr, University Lab and Madison Prep all remained the top boys’ teams in classes 4A, 3A and 1A, respectively.
In girls’ basketball rankings, Patterson and Morgan City both moved up two spots from a week ago in Classes 3A and 4A, respectively. Patterson is ranked No. 24, while Morgan City is ranked No. 29.
In Class 1A, Central Catholic is down two spots to No. 42, while in Class 3A, Berwick remained at No. 64 in last place in Class 3A.
The only change from a week ago among the No. 1 teams in Classes 1A, 3A and 4A occurred in Class 4A where Warren Easton is ranked No. 1 this week, replacing Salmen as Class 4A’s top team. University Lab is Class 3A’s top-ranked team, while North Central leads the Class 1A field.
