Marvin Harold McNeely Sr.
January 7, 1929 — January 24, 2015
A time of remembrance and visitation will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 2015, followed by chapel service at 12:30 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas, for Marvin Harold McNeely Sr., 86, who passed away surrounded by family on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, in Houma.
Harold is survived by four daughters and one son, Pamela Crappel and her husband, Russell, Lisa Levy and her husband, Art, Susan Duplantis and her husband, Dean, who are all of Morgan City, and Laura Stordeur, and Marvin Harold McNeely Jr. and his wife, Sara, of Houston; 17 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Carolyn Marie Shoop McNeely; his daughter, Lynne Alison Smith; his father, Marvin McNeely; mother, Loney Woodard McNeely; and one son-in-law, Dean Ambrose Stordeur.
Harold was a resident of Bayou Vista for almost 30 years. He was a supervisor in exploration with Shell Oil Company for 40 years. overseeing portions of projects like the Alaska Pipeline and the building of the Shell America.
Harold was an avid hunter which he enjoyed while living in Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas. He had a green thumb and loved music and dancing. He and his late wife retired in Compton, Arkansas, 16 years ago. In Arkansas he lived a life dream to have a cattle farm. Upon the death of his wife he moved back to Morgan City to be closer to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Big Daddy will be sadly missed.
