$40M donation pledged to LSU for athletics and engineering
BATON ROUGE — A graduate of LSU has pledged a $40 million gift to be split among LSU engineering and athletics, among the largest donations in the university’s history.
The donor’s name wasn’t released Wednesday by the university.
The money will be given to LSU upon the death of the donor as part of the settlement of the estate. It will be split, with $20 million provided to the Tiger Athletic Foundation for student athlete scholarships and facilities and $20 million given to the LSU Foundation for student scholarships in mechanical and industrial engineering.
LSU President and Chancellor F. King Alexander said in a statement that the donation will give future students “the resources they need for even greater educational success.”
