Lady Tigers topple Lady Eagles

Alyssa Young and Casey Fitzgerald scored in double figures, leading the No. 11 Hanson Memorial Lady Tigers to a 45-20 District 7-1A victory over the Central Catholic Lady Eagles Friday at the Billy Gene Talbot Gymnasium.
Hanson (16-10, 6-4) grabbed an early lead of which it never relinquished. The Lady Tigers dominated their long-time parish rival, taking a 12-4 first quarter lead. At intermission, the Hanson Memorial Lady Tigers secured a 20-5 advantage thanks to an 8-1 run. Hanson went on a 9-3 flurry for a 29-12 third quarter cushion. Down the stretch, the HMS Lady Tigers 16-8 scoring barrage to ice away the 45-20 triumph.
Young led the Hanson Lady Tigers with 20 points on four treys and three deuces. Fitzgerald burned the nets for 12 points on one trey, three deuces and 5 of 6 free throws.
Rounding out the scoring for the Lady Tigers were: Sarah Sonnier, 5; Stephanie Roig, 4; Baylee Young, 2 and Haley Bollinger, 2.
Haley Autin led Central Catholic with 12 points.
Hanson will travel to face Gueydan Tuesday in district action.
