CCHS ranked No. 1 in power rankings
Central Catholic is ranked No. 1 in Class 1A according to the latest unofficial softball power rankings released by the Louisiana High School Athletic Association Monday.
The Lady Eagles sport a 6-1 mark this season.
In Class 4A, Morgan City is No. 18. The Lady Tigers are 5-4 this season.
Meanwhile, in Class 3A, Berwick is No. 26 and Patterson is No. 28. Berwick is 4-7 this season, while Patterson is 3-6.
North Vermilion is Class 3A’s top-ranked squad, while Lakeshore leads the Class 4A rankings.
When the postseason brackets come out, only the top 32 teams in each class advance to the playoffs.
CCHS game postponed
Central Catholic’s contest with Ellender Monday was postponed.
No other details were available.
The Lady Eagles will return to action today when they open District 7-1A play against Gueydan. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. in Bayou Vista.
Elsewhere, Berwick will host St. John of Plaquemine in a 4:30 p.m. contest, while Morgan City also will travel to meet Patterson in a 4 p.m. contest.
St. John of Plaquemine was a Class 1A quarterfinalist a year ago.
