Police: Woman seriously hurt in 'rolling meth' lab fire

One woman was seriously injured and her twin sister had minor injuries after a car they were in caught fire this morning on the U.S. 90 bridge in Morgan City.
Police believe the fire may have been the result of a “rolling meth lab,” Morgan City Police Spokesman Capt. James Blair said.
Police received a call at 2:01 a.m. today of a car on fire on the U.S. 90 overpass, Blair said.
The car, a 2005 Lincoln LS, was occupied by two women identified as Jewel Ross, 31, and Pearl Ross, 31, both of Amelia. The two are twin sisters, Blair said.
Morgan City firefighters extinguished the fire, Blair said. The U.S. 90 bridge was shut down as a result of the incident, and reopened about 5 a.m., Blair said.
Jewel Ann Ross was arrested at 5:19 a.m. today on a warrant charging her with creation and operation of a clandestine laboratory in connection with the incident.
As of this morning, Jewel Ross had bail set at $100,000, Blair said. Jewel Ross sustained minor injuries and refused medical treatment, Blair said.
Her sister, Pearl Ross, was taken to Teche Regional Medical Center and then flown to a burn unit in Baton Rouge to be treated, Blair said.
Pearl Ross was listed in serious condition, Blair said.
The incident is still under investigation, and charges may be pending on Pearl Ross, Blair said.
Police located evidence at the scene which suggested that the car contained a “rolling meth lab,” which investigators believe caused the fire, Blair said.
Morgan City police investigators received assistance from a hazardous material company to process and clean the scene, Blair said.
