HELENA MARY FLORES

April 23, 1941 — March 26, 2015
Helena Mary Flores, also known as “Aunt Jane” and “Jalapeño Lena,” 73, a native of Morgan City and resident of Patterson, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2015, at her residence surrounded by her family.
Helena was a shrimper and loved doing it. She always spoke about how when she got better she was going to get back out on the water and shrimp some more, unfortunately her illness prevented her from doing so. Helena had such a tender heart and would help anyone that needed it, even going so far as to opening her home to strangers and friends alike. She was an exceptional cook and enjoyed feeding anyone who wanted to eat. She believed in no one going hungry. Helena was such an exceptional wife, mother, grandmother and even great-grandmother, and she will be sadly missed by all who she touched.
Helena is survived by her husband, Jose Flores of Patterson; one son, George Aucoin Jr. and his companion, Suzanna Selvage, of Bayou Vista; one daughter, Connie Menard and her husband, Frankie, of Patterson; 11 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Clark III and Gable Clark; and one sister, Laverne Mire.
Helena was preceded in death by her parents, John and Louise Durapau; one daughter, Darlene Terrebonne; two brothers, Steve Clark and Charles Durapau; and one sister, Angelina Durapau.
Visitation will take place today, Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at Twin City Funeral Home beginning at 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and will resume at the funeral home Wednesday, April 1, 2015, beginning at 8:30 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. She will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery following the service.
