Hanson Tigers beat HBHS

NEW IBERIA _ Cameron Stovall, Bo Barrilleaux and Josh Sanchez supplied the power as the Hanson Memorial Tigers defeated Highland Baptist 10-2 here Monday at the Highland Baptist High School Field.
Hanson (15-2) improved to an impeccable 5-0 in District 7-1A action with the win.
Stovall went 2 for 3 with homer and a double with one RBI and one run. Barrilleaux was 4 for 5 with a double, two runs and one RBI. Josh Sanchez was 2 for 3 with a pair of runs while Luke Lancon was 1 for 5 with 2 runs and 1 RBI. Britt Young was 1 for 2 with 1 RBI. Brandon Bonin was 1 for 5 with a pair of RBIs. Luke Rodriguez went 1 for 2 with two runs. John Higdon was 1 for 1 John Guienze scored one run.
Hanson exploded for five runs in the top half of the sixth frame, soaring to 9-1 advantage. Hanson opened the scoring with one run in the first, three more in the third, five in the sixth and one run in the seventh inning. Highland Baptist managed one run in the fourth and one in the sixth before bowing to Hanson by a 10-2 margin.
Hanson’s Evan Thibodeaux earned the mound win with help from relievers Brennan Young, Noah Judice and Josh Sanchez.
Thibodeaux started on the hill, working three innings, tossing 79 pitches with 41 strikes and 38 balls. He faced 18 batters, allowing one run on one hit with five strikeouts and six walks.
Young hurled two frames, tossing 33 total pitches with 19 strikes 14 balls. Young faced 10 batters, not allowing a hit nor a run while fanning two and walking two.
Judice worked one inning, keeping six batters in check, yielding one run on no hits with one strikeout for 21 total pitches with 12 strikes and nine balls.
Sanchez fired one frame, facing four batters for a total of 18 pitches with 11 strikes and seven balls with one hit and one strikeout.
Stovall ripped a solo homer in the first inning, sending the Hanson Tigers to a 1-0 lead. Luke Rodriguez, Josh Sanchez and Bo Barrilleaux all tagged home plate to give HMS a 4-0 advantage. In the sixth frame, Hanson’s John Guienze, Luke Rodriguez, Josh Sanchez, Luke Lancon and Bo Barrilleaux all circled the bases to hand the Tigers a 9-1 cushion. Luke Lancon scored the Tigers’ lone run in the top half of the seventh inning as HMS remained undefeated in league play at 5-0 with the 10-2 victory over Highland Baptist.
