MCHS' Pipes, Amador, headed to Singles semifinals
Morgan City High School sophomores Hannah Pipes and Meghan Amador will look to cap their 2015 bowling seasons off on a successful note as they will compete Friday in the Louisiana High School Athletic Association’s Girls Bowling Singles semifinals at Acadiana Lanes in Lafayette.
The duo were the top bowlers on Morgan City High School’s girls bowling team, which finished its season one match short of advancing to the state’s Final Four as a team, falling to Ellender in Bi Region play March 30.
“We’re disappointed that we’re not going in as a team, but those two girls have helped carry the team to this point, so we are glad that they get to continue on in singles,” Morgan City bowling coach Michelle LaCombe said today.
She said she thinks the duo will be competitive at the event.
Morgan City has the most qualifiers of the contingent of nine bowlers who will begin action in the semifinals.
While the individuals are competing against each other for a chance to bowl in the finals, they also are competing against the teams that will be bowling.
The two losing teams in the semifinals will have their scores compared with these bowlers and then the top bowlers will advance to the finals where they will bowl.
From there, they are competing with the teams that are bowling in the finals for individual honors.
Amador will return to the Final Four after competing there a year ago.
“She has experience. It was a little nerve-wracking last year for her, so she does have a little experience behind her for this year so that may help her out,” LaCombe said.
However, with the teammates bowling together at the event, LaCombe said she thought it made them comfortable.
