Mildred Rose Dugas, 79, a resident of Patterson, passed away Monday, May 12, 2015, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Mildred was born on May 1, 1936, in Bruceville, Texas, the daughter of Clyde L. Daugherty Sr. and Hattie L. Wood Daugherty.
Mildred enjoyed working with ceramics and she made nativity scenes for her family. She also loved to make pillows and quilts, and she made each of her grandchildren quilts. One of Mildred’s favorite things to do was to play bingo. Of all the things she did in her life, she loved spending time with her family. She especially loved to cook for her family making her world famous enchiladas.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband, James Dugas Sr. of Patterson; two sons, James Dugas Jr. and wife, Cindy, of Springdale, Arkansas, and Robert A. Dugas Sr. and wife, Tina, of Patterson; one daughter, Dolores Billiot and husband, Paul, of Bayou Vista; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Clyde Daugherty Jr.; and one sister, Dolores Daugherty.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. today, Thursday, May 14, 2015, at Twin City Funeral Home with a rosary being recited at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass Friday, May 15, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the church with Monsignor J. Douglas Courville officiating. Mildred will be laid to rest in the Ibert’s Memorial Park Cemetery following Mass.
