Six honors graduates to lead West St. Mary Class of 2015
Six summa cum laude graduates will lead West St. Mary High School’s commencement exercises at 6 p.m. tonight in the school gymnasium.
Garrett Bonin, son of Jude and Patrice Bonin, is graduating with a 4.0 grade point average and will attend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette to major in petroleum engineering. He was a member of the National Honor Society, Literary Rally team, Renaissance, French Club, the Gifted and Talented Program, he also was an FFA officer for three years. He was the catcher for the baseball team for four years and received the First Team All-State Academic Award.
Collean Hebert, daughter of Audra and Gerard Hebert, is graduating with a 4.0 grade point average and will attend Louisiana State University to get her degree in psychology. While attending college, she will also take ROTC classes for the United States Air Force. After her time at LSU, she plans to become a therapist in the Air Force to help soldiers with post-traumatic stress. While at WSM, she was a member of the French Club, National Honor Society, Rotary Club, and Literary Rally team. She also participated in the talented art and talented theater programs all four years of high school. Through the art program, she has participated in, and won many awards, in parish- and state-wide art shows.
Elijah Dupre, son of Scott and Andrea Dupre, is graduating with a 3.97 grade point average and will attend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette to major in mechanical engineering. He was an active member of the National Honor Society, FFA, the Literary Rally team, and French Club. He was vice president of FFA for two years. He was the baseball team’s second baseman for three years and shortstop for his senior year.
Emily Gaudet, daughter of Joan and Charles Gaudet, is graduating with a 3.93 grade point average and will attend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette to major in business and minor in photography. She plans to open her own photography studio. During her time at West St. Mary, Emily was an active member of the Yearbook Committee for four years. She was also a member of the French Club, National Honor Society, Literary Rally team for four years, and a Student of the Year nominee.
J’Andrenique Taylor, daughter of Cassandra Brown of Baldwin, is graduating with a 3.88 grade point average and will attend Louisiana State University to major in business management with an entrepreneurial concentration. At WSM, she was junior class parliamentarian, senior class vice president, a member of the varsity basketball team for two years, dance team for two years, and an active member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, Literary Rally team, FBLA, French Club, Renaissance, Yearbook Club, and was a Student of the Year nominee. After college, Taylor’s plans are to own her own pastry shop and build a Lupus Awareness Foundation.
Kaya Richardson, the daughter of Todd and Tamika Carter, is graduating with a 3.85 grade point average and will attend Louisiana State University to major in biochemistry. At WSM, she was a cheerleader for three years and an active member of the French Club, 4-H, Renaissance Club, and National Honor Society.
