MURPHY ‘PAPA SMURF’ BANKS JR.

Murphy “Papa Smurf” Banks Jr., 54, a resident of Morgan City and a native of Lafourche Parish, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2015 at the Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City at 11:53 p.m.
Visitation will be observed on Saturday, May 16, at the New Mount Esther Baptist Church in Morgan City (Siracusa), from 10 a.m. until funeral services at 11 a.m. Pastor Charles Otis Sr. will officiate the services. Burial will follow in the St. Mark Cemetery in Labadieville LA.
Cherished and divine memories will forever be remembered by his wife, Betty A. Neddie-Banks of Morgan City; one brother, Ellis Banks Jr. of Thibodaux; three sisters, Mrs. Sidney (Linda) Joseph of Schriever, Mrs. Victor (Martha Banks)-Kirk and Clemetine Jones, both of Baton Rouge; two sons, Gerald Neddie Jr. of Baton Rouge and Shaddrick Neddie of Morgan City; three brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-laws; three special nieces; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; as well as several other relatives and friends.
Murphy was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
