10 apply for St. Mary superintendent post

Ten candidates for the job of St. Mary Parish Schools superintendent, including four local educators, have applied for the position, according to a school system news release.
The position became vacant following the resignation of Donald Aguillard, who was recently appointed as superintendent of Lafayette Parish Schools, the release stated.
Applicants for the position include four long-time St. Mary Parish administrators: Leonard Armato, supervisor of special services with 29 years of experience; Ricky Armelin, director of human resources with 27.5 years of experience; Peter Boudreaux, instructional supervisor of secondary education with 27 years of experience; and Molly Stadalis, principal of Franklin Junior High School with 20.5 years of experience.
The remaining applicants hail from other parts of Louisiana and Alabama: Donna Alleman, director of Louisiana Schools for the Deaf and Visually Impaired with 30 years of experience; Joey Comeaux, director of child welfare and attendance for data and tech, transportation and secondary schools in Assumption Parish with 24 years of experience; James Gray, director of school leadership in Vermilion Parish with 20 years of experience; Aubrey Orgeron, director of secondary education in Lafourche Parish with 22.5 years of experience; Rhonda Stringham, executive director and assistant superintendent of Limestone County Schools in Athens, Alabama, with 30 years of experience; and Clyde Washington, deputy assistant superintendent of administration for Rapides Parish with 19 years of experience.
Today, school board president Ginger Griffin opened the 10 applications in the presence of interim superintendent Teresa Bagwell, and school board attorney Eric Duplantis.
Each applicant was then checked for appropriate credentials and experience as stated in the public advertisement for superintendent, the release said.
The school board will hold a special session May 26 to refine the superintendent selection procedure before the interview process, the release said. The board expects to announce a final selection by mid-June, the release stated.
Qualifying candidates must hold or be immediately eligible for state superintendent certification, the release stated.
