Presentation Wednesday at library
From the field to the table, award-winning photographer Ronnie Olivier’s new book on sugarcane is sure to interest anyone living in cane country. The Alex P. Allain Memorial Branch Library will host Olivier with a book signing and an informative adult presentation on Wednesday, May 27, at 6 p.m., at its Iberia Street location in Franklin. Olivier’s “Louisiana Sugarcane Pictorial” provides an illustrated account of every phase of sugarcane farming, from planting and harvesting to milling and refining. Drawing on his work from the past 25 years, these photographs encompass exclusive aerial shots of all 11 sugarcane mills still in operation and nine other mills that are now closed. Copies of “Louisiana Sugarcane Pictorial: From the Field to the Table” will be available for purchase and signing by the author. Call the Franklin Library at 337-828-5364 for more information.
