SCHARLETTE MARIE CHRISTENSEN MAYON

Scharlette Marie Christensen Mayon, 67, a native and resident of Morgan City, joined her Savior Jesus Christ when she passed away Friday, May 22, 2015, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Scharlette was born on Dec. 2, 1947, in Morgan City, the daughter of August and Leola Carter Christensen.
Scharlette had many hobbies as she enjoyed sewing and crocheting as well as researching her family history. She loved organizing car shows as a member of the Cypress Corvette Club, where she was affectionately known as “Corvette Mama.” Of all the things that Scharlette did in her life, the one thing she loved the most was spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband, James “Joe” Mayon Sr. of Bayou Vista; two sons, James “Jimmy” Mayon Jr. and wife, Paulette, of Thibodaux, and Joey Mayon and wife, Susan, of Patterson; four grandchildren, Haley and Nicholas Mayon of Thibodaux, Nikki Guillotte and husband, Wade, of Charenton, and Adrianne Landry and husband, Matt, of Patterson; seven great-grandchildren, Christopher, Corey, Chase, Gracie Guillotte, Kayden, Blake and Jaxson Landry. Scharlette is also survived by one brother-in-law, Anthony Aucoin Sr. of Berwick; and two sisters-in-law, Jackie Dolci and husband, David, of Stephensville, and Barbara Dupuis and husband, Reggie, of Pikeville, North Carolina.
Scharlette was preceded in death by her parents, August Christensen and Leola “Tot” Carter Christensen; one daughter, Vicki Mayon; mother- and father-in-law, Clao and Belle Mayon; and one sister, JoAnn Christensen Aucoin.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 28, 2015, at Twin City Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at Twin City Funeral Home with the visitation resuming from 9 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday at the funeral home. Scharlette will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery following the services.
