Man charged in 2013 attack

A 39-year-old Amelia man was charged Saturday on a November 2013 warrant in which he is accused of punching a woman in the face, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Edward L. Williams, 39, of the 100 block of Friendship Alley in Amelia, was arrested at 12:02 a.m. Saturday on a warrant charging him with simple battery. The November 2013 warrant was obtained after an investigation into a complaint of a battery in which Williams punched a woman in the face, Hebert said.
A deputy assigned to patrol the Amelia area made contact with Williams on Lake Palourde Road and learned of the active warrant for his arrest, the sheriff said. Williams was jailed and released after posting $500 bail.
Hebert reported responding to 100 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Charlotte McNabb, 51, of the 100 block of Southeast Boulevard in Bayou Vista, at 9:06 a.m. Saturday on the charges of disturbing the peace intoxicated and simple battery.
A deputy responded to a report of a disturbance on Southeast Boulevard. The deputy made contact with McNabb and smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath. The deputy learned that McNabb pushed a woman, Hebert said. McNabb was jailed and released on $1,000 bail.
—Trent H. Duhon, 20, of the 200 block of Ricohoc Drive in Ricohoc, at midnight Sunday on the charge of possession of Schedule I drugs and 2 warrants for probation violation. A deputy assigned to patrol the Bayou Vista area observed a vehicle with no illuminated taillights.
The deputy conducted a traffic stop on Southeast Boulevard and made contact with the driver, who was identified as Duhon. The deputy learned that Duhon had two active warrants for his arrest. During a search of Duhon, the deputy located marijuana, Hebert said. Duhon was jailed with no bail set.
—Zack Tabb, 20, of the 100 block of Beadle Street in Amelia, at 11:56 a.m. Sunday on the charge of violation of the parish leash law ordinance. A deputy responding to an animal complaint on Beadle Street observed a dog chasing a juvenile who was riding a bicycle, Hebert said. The deputy identified Tabb as the owner of the animal. Tabb was released on a summons to appear in court Aug. 19.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Paris N. Bias, 23, of Lafayette, at 6:11 a.m. Friday on a 16th Judicial District Court warrant charging her with two counts of issuing worthless checks.
Officers were dispatched to a residence on Third Street where they made contact with Bias, who was found to have an outstanding warrant. Bias was jailed and later released on bail.
—Stacy A. Benandi, 48, of Mount Street in Berwick, at 12:10 p.m. Friday on the charge of disturbing the peace by alarming the public.
Officers were dispatched to a local business on Railroad Avenue in regards to a disturbance. Officers learned that a suspect had come to the business upset, which alarmed the employees, Blair said. The suspect left the area prior to the officers arriving. Officers located Benandi in the area of Myrtle Street and Youngs Road. He was jailed.
—Christopher S. Webb, 46, of St. Michael Street in Patterson, at 3:17 p.m. Friday on a Patterson Police warrant charging him with distribution of cocaine and warrants charging him with criminal neglect of family and two counts of failure to appear.
Webb was located by officers in the area of Kentucky Street and was found to have active warrants for the Patterson Police Department and 16th Judicial Court. Webb was jailed.
—David A. Turner, 24, of Houma, at 6 p.m. Friday on a warrant charging him with contempt of court. Turner turned himself into the Morgan City Police Department for an active warrant for the Sixth Ward City Court. Turner was jailed.
—Jamichael D. Bowie, 25, of Fourth Street in Berwick, at 10:43 a.m. Saturday on warrants charging him with failure to pay fines and failure to pay restitution.
A patrolling officer in the area of Fifth and Freret streets noticed a vehicle with improper lighting and conducted a traffic stop, Blair said. A passenger in the vehicle, Bowie, had active warrants for his arrest and was jailed.
—Deondre F. Walker, 18, of Federal Avenue in Morgan City, at 10:31 p.m. Saturday on the charge of possession of marijuana.
Officers were dispatched to a residence on Railroad Avenue in regards to loud music. Officers made contact with Walker and Williams sitting in a vehicle. Inside the vehicle, officers located suspected marijuana, Blair said. Both Walker and Williams were jailed.
—Derek J. Pellegrin, 18, of Houma, at 9:48 a.m. Sunday on the charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, no seat belt and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.
—A male juvenile, 16, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
An officer in the area of U.S. 90 westbound, noticed a vehicle with the driver not wearing a seat belt, Blair said. A traffic stop was conducted. During the investigation, officers located suspected marijuana in the vehicle and items used to smoke marijuana. Pellegrin and the juvenile passenger were transported to the police department. The juvenile was released to a guardian.
—Stephen C. Barbour, 30, of Jones Street in Berwick, at 3:15 p.m. Sunday on the charge of theft of goods ($17.82).
Officers were dispatched to a supermarket on La. 182 in regards to a theft. Officers located the suspect, Barbour, who was found to be in possession of items belonging to the supermarket, Blair said. Barbour was jailed.
—Crystal G. Thompson, 36, of Fifth Street in Morgan City, at 12:15 a.m. today on a warrant charging her with three counts of failure to appear for drug court.
A patrolling officer noticed a vehicle make an improper turn in the area of La. 182 near Myrtle Street. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was asked to produce a valid driver’s license. The officer also ran a local warrants check on the passenger of the vehicle, Thompson. Officers determined she held active warrants for the 16th Judicial Court. Thompson was jailed.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Christopher Webb, 46, of the 700 block of St. Michael Street in Patterson, at 5:37 p.m. Friday at the Morgan City jail on a Patterson Police warrant charging him with distribution of cocaine. Webb was jailed with no bail set.
—Stephanie Varnam, 26, of the 100 block of Foxglove Drive in Patterson, at 6:40 p.m. Friday on the charge of simple battery. Varnam was released on her own recognizance.
—Cory Pierce, 28, of the 100 block of Shady Grove in Patterson, at 9 p.m. Friday on the charges of resisting an officer by failure to comply, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana second offense. Pierce was jailed with no bail set.
—Dylan Boling, 19, of the 200 block of Hunting Road in Franklin, at 7:35 p.m. Saturday on the charges of speeding 63 mph in a 45 mph zone, suspended driver’s license and possession of a Schedule IV drug. Boling was jailed with bail set.
—Donald McCormick, 27, of the 300 block of Hyland Drive in Thibodaux, at 12:49 a.m. Sunday on the charges of improper acceleration, open container, driving under suspension, expired license plate, resisting an officer by giving false information, possession of marijuana second offense and on a Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant. McCormick was jailed with no bail set.
—Timothy Meredith, 41, of the 2900 block of Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, at 12:52 a.m. Sunday on the charge of obscenity and on a Morgan City Police warrant. Meredith was jailed on $337 bail.
—Ty Hammond, 35, of the 700 block of St. Michael Street in Patterson, at 10:58 p.m. Sunday on the charge of violation of a protective order. Hammond was jailed with no bail set.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
