FANNIE J. ORTIS

August 25, 1935-May 29, 2015
Fannie J. Ortis, 79, a resident of Ricohoc, passed away Friday, May 29, 2015, at her home.
Fannie was born on Aug. 25, 1935, in Plaquemine, the daughter of James and Fannie Henson Jones.
Fannie enjoyed tending to her garden and would spend hours fishing. She loved BBQ’s and seafood boils where she would pass the time with family and friends.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by two children, Kenneth Ortis of Ricohoc, and Kammy Boudreaux and husband, Brent, of Bayou Vista; seven grandchildren, Tori Chauvin and Kewayne Griffin, Gildon Chauvin and wife, Lesley, Corey Ortis, Ivy LaCoste, Shantelle Abshire, Kaitlyn Abshire and Kara Abshire; five great-grandchildren, Jordyn and Kyle Bellard, Rodney Bellard III, Jaleigh Chauvin and Logan Jacobs; and two sisters, Annie Mendoza and Mary Wisdom.
Fannie was preceded in death by her parents, James Jones and Fannie Henson Jones; her husband, David Ortis; a son, Gabriel James Abshire; six brothers, Johnny Williams, Henry Williams, Moses Williams, Albert Williams Jr., James “JC” Jones, Ernest “Elmo” Stringfellow; and two sisters, Katie Marine and Delores “DD” Saucier.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at Twin City Funeral Home with Rev. Chad Hebert officiating, with visitation held from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Fannie will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery following the services.
