Summer Camp registration begins June 1

Registration starts today for the first session of the Morgan City Recreation Department’s Summer Day Camp program at M.D. Shannon Elementary for children 7 years old as of May 1, and for youth not turning 13 before July 31, according to a news release. There will be three two-week sessions.
The cost of the camp is $160 per session per child. Each camp session will include swimming lessons, lunch and an afternoon activity such as bowling, movie presentations and visits to Lake End Park. The times for the camp are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of each registration week will be for Morgan City residents, and Thursday and Friday for other towns. Only the first 56 applicants will be accepted due to bus transportation.
To register, bring birth certificate and the registration fee to the Morgan City Recreation Department located at 915 Everett Street in Morgan City, between the hours of 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call 985-380-4600.

—Session two: registration held, June 15-19; session held, June 22-July 2.
—Session three: registration held, June 29-July 2; session held, July 6-17.
The Morgan City Public Pool is scheduled to open June 6. Morgan City Recreation Department public swimming lessons are scheduled to begin June 9 for anyone 42 inches below the chin or taller. The cost is $40 for Morgan City residents and $50 for non-residents.

The public pool will be open for public swim beginning today. The times for the swimming sessions are 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Also offered are lap swim sessions beginning today.
