She graduated from the University of Southwest Louisiana in 1945 and married Lieutenant Philip J. Dolan who had also just graduated from West Point. Together they raised six children as they traveled throughout the United States and parts of Europe with the Army. In 1972 Mommy married Elmo Miars. She was preceded in death by both of her husbands.
Mommy taught at Hanson High School in Franklin, Louisiana. She was an avid bridge player most of her life. Mommy was also an excellent cook and always made enough for the unexpected guest(s) that were welcomed at her table. She was a good sport joining her children in anything they might attempt from hang gliding, white water rafting and kayaking to water and snow skiing to walking for causes like Race for the Cure. She died Monday, June 8 in her daughter’s home surrounded and touched by family following an hour of lovely harp music. Mommy will be sorely missed by her children, Phil (Cathy), Pat (Doug), Missy, Lenore, Peter (Leslie) and Mary (David); her 10 grandchildren, Philip, Michael, Josh, Jake, Jenn, Alex, Jason, Travis, Teresa and Jeremy; her seven great grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
A service will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church in Milwaukie, OR at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 13.
