Man accused of making threats on boat landing

A 46-year-old Morgan City man was charged Monday after he allegedly threatened to physically harm another man at the Berwick Boat Landing on Friday, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Jesse Comeaux Sr., 46, of the 500 block of Franklin Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:55 p.m. Monday on a warrant charging him with simple assault. On Friday, a deputy responded to a complaint at the Berwick Boat Landing.
During the investigation, the deputy learned that Comeaux verbally threatened physical harm against a man while the man was working to load a boat onto a trailer, Hebert said. Comeaux turned himself in at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Franklin after learning of the warrant for his arrest, Hebert said. Comeaux was jailed and released on $250 bail.
Hebert reported responding to 36 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Cayd Hatch, 17, of the 700 block of Prairie Road North in Verdunville, was arrested at 8:47 a.m. Monday on a Morgan City warrant charging him with failure to appear for seatbelt violation. A deputy investigating a complaint of a crashed vehicle on La. 182 in Ricohoc made contact with the driver and learned of the active warrant for his arrest. The deputy transported Hatch to the parish jail for booking. A jailer received information from Morgan City Police that the fine was paid and Hatch was released.
—Quincy Toups, 34, of the 1300 block of First Street in Patterson, was arrested at 9:31 p.m. Monday on the charge of remaining where forbidden. A deputy responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence on Wheelis Lane in Bayou Vista.
Upon arrival, the deputy learned that the person causing the disturbance, Toups, had left the location. Another deputy conducted a traffic stop on Toups’ vehicle in Berwick. During the investigation, the deputy learned that Toups had repeatedly refused to leave the property despite being told to do so multiple times by the resident, Hebert said. Toups admitted to the deputy that he knew he was not allowed at the residence, Hebert said. Toups was jailed with bail set at $500.
—Shantell S. McPherson, 41, of the 1000 block of Lake Palourde Road in Amelia, was arrested at 10:01 p.m. Monday on a warrant charging her with failure to appear on the charges of direct contempt, speeding, and failure to honor written promise to appear. A deputy assigned to patrol the Amelia area observed a vehicle with no license plate illumination and conducted a traffic stop, Hebert said. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as McPherson, and located an active warrant for her arrest. McPherson was jailed with bail set at $325.
—Stacey L. Grubb, 34, of the 100 block of Two Sister’s Court in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 2:53 a.m. today on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. A deputy made contact with Grubb at her residence and learned of the active warrant for her arrest. Grubb was jailed with bail set at $2,500.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Dudley Nosworthy, 74, of Walnut Drive in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:37 p.m. Monday on an El Dorado, Arkansas Police warrant charging him with theft.
Nosworthy was located at his residence and placed under arrest for an outstanding warrant for the El Dorado Police Department out of El Dorado, Arkansas. Nosworthy was jailed and is awaiting extradition back to Arkansas.
—Jamie E. Gray. 44, of Egle Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:57 p.m. Monday on the charges of driving under suspension and two tail lamps required.
An officer on patrol in the area of Fifth and Freret streets observed a vehicle with improper lighting. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, Gray, was determined to have a suspended driver’s license. Gray was jailed and later released on bail.
—Anton D. Williams, 21, of Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:10 a.m. Saturday on the charge of theft less than $750 ($31.63).
Officers were dispatched to a local business on La. 182 in regard to someone leaving the business without paying, Blair said. When officers arrived, management gave the description of the suspect who left the business. Officers were able to locate the suspect fitting the description in the area of Everett and Ninth streets.
According to reports, Williams was asked about leaving the business without paying for his food and he stated he did because he did not have enough money to pay the ticket, Blair said. Williams was jailed.
—James A. Tarleton, 21, of Taft Street in Patterson, was arrested at 8:56 p.m. Saturday on the charges of driving under suspension and red light violation.
A patrol officer in the area of La. 182 and U.S. 90 observed a vehicle fail to stop at a red traffic signal and conducted a traffic stop.
The driver, Tarleton, was determined to have a suspended driver’s license. Tarleton was jailed.
—Gale V. Driskill, 61, of River Road in Berwick, was arrested at 10:06 p.m. Saturday on the charge of improper lane usage.
A patrol officer in the area of La. 182 and Myrtle Street observed a vehicle drive in the middle of the roadway, taking up both lanes of travel.
A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, Driskill, was asked to produce a valid driver’s license.
Officers could smell an odor of alcoholic beverage on Driskill’s breath, Blair said. Driskill registered under the legal limit of .08 grams-percent blood alcohol content, Blair said. Therefore, Driskill was only charged with improper lane usage.
—Daniel A. Scully, 40, of Belanger Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:42 a.m. Sunday on the charge of appearing in public intoxicated.
Officers were dispatched to a local bar on La. 182 in regard to a disturbance.
When officers arrived they located Scully, who appeared intoxicated and refused to leave the area, Blair said. Scully was jailed.
—Jayme R. Wininger, 19, of Palm Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:57 p.m. Sunday on a warrant for failure to appear for speeding.
Wininger was located in the area of Sixth and Fig streets. Wininger held an outstanding warrant for the Sixth Ward City Court and was jailed.
—Robin D. Carbin, 47, of Fifth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:11 p.m. Sunday on the charge of theft of goods ($24.20).
Officers were dispatched to a supermarket on La. 182 in regard to a shoplifter. When officers arrived, Carbin had been detained.
According to reports, Carbin had concealed several items and tried leaving the store without paying. Carbin was jailed.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Richard Lasseigne, 65, of the 500 block of Pacific Street in Berwick, was arrested at 3:17 a.m. Saturday on the charges of failure to signal turn, driving while intoxicated first offense and driving under suspension.
Lasseigne was released on $6,000 bail.
—Carmel Triggs, 33, of the 700 block of Cleveland Street in Patterson, was arrested at 6:04 p.m. Saturday on the charge of simple battery.
Triggs was jailed on $319 bail.
—Tayler Davis, 17, of the 100 block of Natalie Lane in Patterson, was arrested at 9:48 p.m. Sunday on the charge of disturbing the peace by language. Davis was released on $237 bail.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Rodney Portier, 59, of Morgan City, was arrested at 8:01 p.m. Monday on the charges of possession of marijuana second offense and possession of drug paraphernalia. Portier was jailed.
St. Martin Parish Sheriff Ronnie Theriot reported the following arrest relating to east St. Mary Parish:
—Steve Dupre, 47, of the 1000 block of Pauline Court in Morgan City, was charged with simple battery of the infirm.
