St. Mary Central wins 10-year-old district title

St. Mary Central’s 10-year-old All-Stars won the District 3 championship with a 4-0 mark in the district tournament at Caffery Park in Franklin this weekend.
St. Mary Central outscored its opponents 52-13 en route to the district title.
On Friday, they beat Morgan City 16-7 before returning to the field Saturday for wins against Franklin, 9-6; and Thibodaux, 12-0.
St. Mary Central concluded its perfect district run with a 15-0 victory against Patterson Sunday.
“I think we played great as a team,” St. Mary Central coach Ashley Boudreaux said. “Had a few moments to where we let innings go but other than that, we played really well as a team.”
Boudreaux said pitching carried his team in the tournament.
St. Mary Central now will advance to the South Regional, which will be held in Ponchatoula. They will open play Friday at 1 p.m. against Ville Platte.
The second-place team in the district tournament will advance to the North Regional, which will be held in Winnsboro. That also will begin Friday.
In this weekend’s action, Luke Thomas earned the win against Morgan City and Thibodaux, while Robinson was the winning pitcher against Franklin. Jude Vasquez earned the win against Patterson.
No other individual stats were available today.
Morgan City goes 0-3

Morgan City had a tough weekend as the squad finished 0-3 at the district tournament.
Morgan City fell to St. Mary Central, 16-7, Friday; Franklin, 21-6, Saturday and Thibodaux, 9-4, Sunday.
Against St. Mary Central, Dylan Duval led Morgan City with a 2-for-4 performance with two RBIs and a run, while Carsyn Meador was 1-for-1 with an RBI.
Other top offensive contributors included Caleb O’Con, 1-for-2, a run; Blake Peterson and Ben Miller, each 1-for-3, a run; Drew Miller and Bryson Dupuy each 1-for-4 with a run; Karson Nelson, an RBI and a run; and Dominic Case, an RBI.
Miller, Dupuy and Duval all pitched.
Against Franklin, Duval was 3-for-3 with three RBIs and a run, while Ben Miller was 2-for-3 with two runs and a stolen base.
Other top offensive contributors included Drew Miller, 1-for-2, an RBI and a run; and Peterson, an RBI.
Ben Miller, Dupuy and Duval all pitched for Morgan City.
Against Thibodaux, O’Con finished 3-for-4 with a run, while Peterson was 2-for-2 with a run.
