Planning Council on Aging activities

A number of senior residents of Lower St. Martin Parish came to the Belle River Community Center recently for a meeting to begin planning some Council on Aging activities for this area. St. Martin Parish Executive Director Shanise Lewis and case managers Delores Hebert and Cora Derouselle joined the local people to meet and greet the residents and help in the planning. Also present was Recreation District No. 1 President Charlotte Ratcliff. The meeting was hosted by Linda Cooke. Ultimately, the Baja seniors hope to enjoy the benefits of parish COA services, but in the interim, plans were developed to hold activities in the Belle River center. Dates and times for planned activities have not yet been determined. They will be posted on the outdoor sign at the Belle River site and in the newspapers.
