Theater shooting victim was native of Franklin

Mayci Breaux, one of two shooting victims who died as a result of Thursday’s Lafayette theater shooting, was a native of Franklin.
Breaux, 21, was the daughter of Kevin Anthony Breaux and Dondie Leblanc Breaux, according to a biography that appeared in the Franklin Banner-Tribune when she was a maid in the Krewe of Sucrose in 2013. Her father is a past duke in the same krewe.
Mayci Breaux graduated from Hanson Memorial High School in 2012. During her senior year, according to the biography, Breaux became involved in Campus Ministry and pro-life causes. She went to Washington, D.C., in 2011 with classmates for a pro-life march.
Breaux was a varsity cheerleader who was voted Most Beautiful by her senior class. She was also crowned Carnival Queen of 2012.
Beaux was working in Lafayette and entered South Louisiana Community College with plans to go on to Louisiana State University Eunice to be a radiology and ultrasound technician.
Jillian Johnson, 33, of Lafayette was the other victim who died Thursday. Formerly a signer in the band The Figs, Johnson was a businesswoman who designed T-shirts and ran a gift shop.
She designed a logo for the Tour du Teche boat race.
Johnson was married to Jason Brown, a former reporter for the Lafayette Advertiser and Baton Rouge Morning Advocate.
He left newspapers to work with his wife.
