Mother, son arrested on warrants

A Ricohoc mother and son were arrested Wednesday after a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s deputy went to their home looking for the son, who had warrants for his arrest, Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
Hebert reported responding to 41 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests relating to east St. Mary Parish:
—Joshua Delaney, 27, of the 100 block of Keller’s Lane in Ricohoc, was arrested at 8:12 a.m. Wednesday on a warrant charging him with simple battery, a warrant charging him with failure to appear on the charge of domestic abuse battery and on the charges of possession of synthetic cannabinoids and possession of drug paraphernalia
—Mary Delaney, 51, of the 100 block of Keller’s Lane in Ricohoc, was arrested at 8:12 a.m. Wednesday on the charges of obstruction of justice, a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of theft and a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of failure to dim lights and driving under suspension.
A deputy went to a home in the 100 block of Keller’s Lane in Ricohoc to locate Joshua Delaney who was wanted on active warrants. The deputy made contact with Mary Delaney, who told the deputy that her son, Joshua Delaney, was not at home, Hebert said.
The deputy made contact with a second person who stated that Joshua Delaney was in a bedroom toward the back of the residence, the sheriff said. The deputy located Joshua Delaney and also found synthetic cannabinoids and drug paraphernalia in the bedroom, Hebert said. The deputy also learned of two active warrants for Mary Delaney.
The warrant for simple battery for Joshua Delaney is the result of an investigation into a complaint of a battery. The complainant stated that Joshua Delaney struck another man in the face, Hebert said. Both were jailed with no bail set.
—Cherry Donati, 31, of the 2800 block of Second Street in Berwick, was arrested at 4:06 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of possession of Schedule III Narco pills, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to signal 100 feet prior to an intersection.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division detectives were patrolling the Morgan City area when they observed a vehicle fail to properly signal a turn onto Onstead Street from Federal Avenue, Hebert said. Detectives conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, identified as Donati. During the investigation, detectives located three Narco pills on Donati along with a straw believed to be used to ingest the pills, Hebert said. Donati was jailed with no bail set.
—Anna Collette, 35, of the 200 block of Wayne Lane, Centerville, was arrested at 7:49 p.m. Tuesday on the charge of possession of synthetic cannabinoids. Detectives conducted a vehicle stop for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop, detectives received consent to search the vehicle and located a bag of synthetic cannabinoids beneath the front passenger seat where Collette had been sitting. Detectives learned that the illegal substance belonged to Collette, who was transported to the parish jail for booking.
As the investigation continued, detectives developed information that resulted in the search of a residence on Prairie Road in Verdunville. In connection with the same investigation and as reported Wednesday, Dwight Blackburn, 36, of the 200 block of Prairie Road North in Verdunville, was arrested Tuesday on the charges of possession of marijuana, possession of synthetic cannabinoids with intent to distribute, distribution of synthetic cannabinoids and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Narcotics division detectives developed information that Blackburn was selling synthetic cannabinoids from his residence on Prairie Road and obtained a search warrant for the location. During the search of the home, detectives located a bag or marijuana, a bag of synthetic cannabinoids, and packaging material consistent with the sale of illegal drugs.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Devon E. Marsh, 23, of Ciro Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:35 a.m. Wednesday on warrants charging him with failure to pay a fine and contempt of court.
Marsh was transported from the Law Enforcement Center in Centerville to the Morgan City Police Department for outstanding warrants held for the Sixth Ward City Court. Marsh was jailed.
—Michael M. Gonzales, 27, of Ditch Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:16 p.m. Wednesday on the charge of disturbing the peace intoxicated.
Officers were dispatched to a residence on Ditch Avenue in regard to a disturbance. Officers made contact with Gonzales outside of the residence. Officers observed that Gonzales appeared intoxicated and was using profanities, Blair said. Gonzales was jailed.
—Casey C. Chenevert, 18, of Mount Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:49 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant charging her with simple battery.
Officers located Chenevert in the area of Terrebonne and Sixth streets. Chenevert was determined to hold an active warrant for the Morgan City Police Department. The warrant stems from a July 12 incident in which Chenevert is accused of committing a battery on another individual, Blair said. Chenevert was jailed.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
