DAVID LEE KELLER

December 18, 1929- August 1, 2015
David Lee Keller, 85, a native of Morgan City, Louisiana, a long-time resident of Greenwood and later Grove Hill, Alabama, died peacefully at his home Saturday, Aug. 1, 2015. He was born on Dec. 18, 1929, in Bayou L’Ourse, Louisiana. He was the sixth child of 10 children.
David was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a member of VFW Post 5106. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Self-employed for 33 years, he owned and operated Greenwood Service Center where he lovingly treated many little ones to their first lollipop. He sponsored Keller’s men and women’s softball teams for many years and proudly displayed the trophies in his business. An avid LSU fan, he was proud of his Louisiana roots.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond J. and Maggie Blanco Keller; son, Joseph David Keller; sister, Bernice Aucoin; and three brothers, Eugene Keller, Raymond J. Keller and Louis J. Keller.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Bobbie Wixey Keller; two daughters, Robin Keller (Duane) Davis and Rhonda Keller (Bruce) Wilson; four grandchildren, Lee Wixey Davis, Ellie Hardy Wilson, Ross Keller Davis and Payne Mathews Wilson; five sisters, Agnes Robicheaux, Ethel Aucoin, Maggie Vidos, Patsy Laverne and Peggy Morgan; numerous nieces and nephews who lovingly referred to him as “Uncle Pony”; and friends who knew him as D.L.
Funeral services were today, Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2015, at Lathan Funeral Home in Grove Hill. Interment followed at Good Hope Cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers were Daniel Baugh, Randy Jones, Jeff Harrigan, Allen Jordan, Ray Sheffield and Mike Norris.
