CCHS falls to Vandebilt in 3 games

Vandebilt Catholic eased past the Central Catholic Lady Eagles in three games Monday in both teams’ season opener in Morgan City.
Vandebilt Catholic won 25-8, 25-12, 25-12.
No individual statistics were available for the Lady Eagles (0-1), who will return to the court Wednesday when they travel to face Landry Walker. Junior varsity action will begin at 4:30 p.m. with varsity to follow.
Berwick falls in
five games
The Berwick Lady Panthers fell in five games to St. John of Plaquemine on the road Monday.
While Berwick defeated St. John, a Division V semifinalist a year ago, in game 1 (25-22), the Lady Panthers dropped games two and three, 25-21 and 25-20, respectively.
Berwick bounced back with a 27-25 win in game four before falling in game five, 15-11.
Ashton Morales led Berwick with 13 kills, two blocks, three assists and 13 digs, while Mary Jordan Melancon had two kills, 11 assists and 14 digs.
Other top contributors included Rosalyn Gros, two aces and 11 digs; Brittany Roberie, three aces and 10 digs; Jordan Lipari, two kills, one assist and six digs; and Emma Hover, six digs.
In junior varsity action, Berwick defeated St. John 2-0 (25-23, 26-24), while in freshman action, Berwick knocked off St. John 2-1 (25-23, 23-25, 15-12).
Berwick (0-1) will return to action today when it hosts Central Lafourche. Junior varsity action is set for 4 p.m., while varsity will take the court at 5 p.m. Freshman action at 6 p.m. will conclude the day.
Other games
Morgan City and Patterson will begin their seasons today on the road.
Morgan City will travel to face Hahnville, with freshman action beginning at 4 p.m., followed by junior varsity and varsity play.
Patterson will travel to face Franklin with junior varsity beginning at 4 p.m. and varsity following.
