Woman faces drug charges

A woman reported stumbling in the roadway on La. 182 was arrested Friday for disturbing the peace by intoxication and possession of non-prescribed pills, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Herbert said in a news release.
—Dawn Goleman Lancon, 32, 100 block of Mill Road in Patterson, was arrested at 8:12 p.m. Friday on the following charges of disturbing the peace (intoxicated), possession of a legend drug (naproxen sodium) without a prescription, and possession of a legend drug (Celebrex) without a prescription. A deputy responded to a complaint of a female subject stumbling in the roadway on La. 182 in the Patterson area.
The deputy located the female staggering on the side of the road and made contact with her. She identified herself as Goleman to the deputy. While speaking with her, the deputy learned that she had been drinking an alcoholic beverage.
The deputy received consent to search her purse and located several prescription pills for which she did not have a prescription. The deputy transported her to the parish jail for booking. No bail was set.
Hebert reported responding to 99 complaints and reported the following arrests:
—Jasmine J. Washington, 31, of the 300 block of Barrow Street in Morgan City, at 11:39 a.m. Friday on a warrant for issuing worthless checks. Washington turned herself in at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Morgan City.
She was released on a summons to appear in court on Jan. 13, 2016.
—Nakeisa Walker, 36, of the 100 block of Polaris Road in Bayou Vista, at 7:50 p.m. Friday for theft of goods. A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista.
During the course of the investigation, the deputy discovered that Walker took items from the store, placed them in her purse, and left the business without paying for the goods. The deputy located Walker at her residence and recovered the stolen items.
Walker was released on a summons to appear on court on Jan. 13, 2016.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—John Ashmore, 44, of the 1700 block of Horizon Drive in New Iberia, at 10:24 a.m. Saturday for driving while intoxicated (second offense), improper lane usage, and open container. Ashmore was released on $1,200 bail.
—Sonia Ruth Zermeno, 34, of the 300 block of Hunting Road in Ricohoc, at 8:56 p.m. Sunday for simple battery involving domestic violence. Zermeno remains jailed at Patterson Police Department.
—Linda Castaneda-Urbina, 29, of the 400 block of Charlot Drive in Patterson, at 8:56 p.m. Sunday for simple battery. Castaneda-Urbina was released on $384 bail.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Nicholas A. Breaux, 37, of Pierre Part, at 5:04 p.m. Friday on a warrant for failure to appear (St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office) and a warrant for failure to appear (seven counts). Breaux was located in the area of Federal Avenue and Egle Street.
A local warrants check was done on Breaux and it was determined that he held active warrants for the Sixth Ward City Court and the Sixteenth Judicial District Court. Breaux was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and jailed.
—Vaughn J. Bourque, 48, of Patton Street in Morgan City, 10:39 p.m. Friday for reckless operation of a vehicle, hit and run driving, and operating a vehicle while intoxicated (second offense). Officers were dispatched to the area of La. 70 near Victor II Boulevard in regards to a reckless driver that had hit several street signs.
A description of the vehicle was given and officers located the vehicle in the parking lot of a local business on Victor II Boulevard. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, Bourque, was asked to exit the vehicle.
Officers observed that Bourque appeared intoxicated and was unable to maintain his balance, while talking to officers. Bourque was asked to perform the standard field sobriety test, in which he performed poorly. Bourque was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department.
Once at the department, Bourque was asked to submit to the chemical test for intoxication. Bourque refused and was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Bourque was booked and jailed.
—Pablo C. Fonte, 58, of Veterans Boulevard in Patterson, at 10:59 a.m. Saturday for appearing in public intoxicated. Officers were dispatched to a local business in regards to an individual passed out in one of the restrooms.
Officers arrived and made contact with Fonte. Fonte appeared to be intoxicated and officers could smell a strong odor of alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath. Fonte was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and jailed.
—Andres R. Mendoza, 22, of Houma, at 2:15 a.m. Sunday for appearing in public intoxicated. An officer in the area of Federal Avenue and Bush Street observed an individual walking that appeared to be intoxicated.
The officer made contact with the individual, identified as Mendoza. Mendoza had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath. Mendoza was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and jailed.
—Oscar B. Ochoa, 48, of Terrebonne Street in Morgan City, at 8:38 p.m. Sunday for hit and run driving, no driver’s license, and careless operation. Officers were dispatched to the area of Sixth and Terrebonne streets in regards to a hit and run vehicle crash.
When officers arrived, the victim stated that her vehicle was hit and the driver of the other vehicle did not stop. A description of the suspect vehicle was given.
The vehicle was located in the area of Front Street, but the driver was not inside. Morgan City Police Department received information that the driver of the vehicle could be located at a residence on Amelia Street.
Officers arrived at the residence and made contact with the driver, Ochoa. According to reports, Ochoa did admit to driving the vehicle and causing the crash.
Ochoa was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and jailed.
—James R. Goode, 39, of La 182 in Morgan City, at 10:39 p.m. Sunday for hit-and-run driving, no license plate, and improper backing. A patrol officer was dispatched to a residence on Roderick Street in regards to a hit and run vehicle crash.
Officers made contact with the victim, who stated she witnessed the suspect’s vehicle back into her vehicle and proceeded on. A description of the vehicle was given and it was located at a local business on La 182.
Officers noticed damage to the vehicle consistent with the damage of the victim’s vehicle. The vehicle also did not have a license plate.
Goode was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and jailed.
—Frank R. Casteel, 28, of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:02 p.m. Sunday for a warrant (possession of Schedule I marijuana) and a warrant (possession of drug paraphernalia). Casteel was a passenger in a traffic stop and a local warrants check was done.
It was determined that he held an active warrant for the Morgan City Police Department. Casteel was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and jailed.
