Threat report leads to drug arrest

A 56-year-old Morgan City man was caught with an oxycodone pill Tuesday after police responded to a report of the man allegedly threatening another person, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Terry M. Menard, 56, of Fourth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:37 p.m. Tuesday on the charge of possession of Schedule II oxycodone.
Officers were dispatched to a residence on Fourth Street in regard to someone being threatened.
When officers arrived, the alleged victim stated that Menard wanted to harm him, Blair said. Officers were able to locate Menard in the area of Fifth Street.
Menard was asked about the incident, but denied making any threats, Blair said. According to reports, officers received consent to pat Menard down and located a pill identified as oxycodone, Blair said. Menard was jailed.
Blair reported the following arrests:
—Felix D. Oclair, 20, of St. Augustine, Florida, was arrested at 6:52 p.m. Tuesday on the charge of theft.
Officers were dispatched to a business on La. 182 in regard to a theft. When officers arrived, store management stated that a cell phone was stolen from the business. From video surveillance obtained from inside the store, officers were able to identify the suspect as Oclair. Oclair was located in the area of La. 182 and, according to reports, he admitted to taking the phone, Blair said. Oclair was jailed.
—Dustin M. Busse, 25, of Sacred Heart Drive in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:14 a.m. today on the charge of appearing in public intoxicated and urinating in public.
Officers came into contact with Busse in the parking lot of a local business on La. 182. As officers approached, Busse appeared to be urinating. While talking to Busse, officers could smell a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath, Blair said. Busse was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 31 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests relating to east St. Mary Parish:
—Juan Luque, 25, of the 800 block of Percy Street in Amelia, was arrested at 12:47 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of speeding, operating a vehicle without a driver’s license, and operating a vehicle not covered by security (no insurance). A deputy located Luque at the St. Mary Parish Courthouse on the warrant and transported him to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
—Timothy L. Darby, 38, of the 1000 block of Hickory Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:04 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of drug court. A deputy received notification that Darby was taken into custody by the Vermillion Parish Sheriff’s Office. A St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy transported Darby from the Vermillion Parish jail to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. No bail is set.
—John Ross, 47, of Morgan City, was additionally charged on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of direct contempt, failure to use seatbelts, and failure to honor written promise to appear at 10:25 a.m. Monday Ross was already incarcerated at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. Bail on the charge is set at $100.
—A juvenile male, 16, of Bayou Vista, was arrested at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Detectives made contact with a juvenile walking along Saturn Road near Mercury Street. While speaking with the juvenile, detectives discovered that he was in possession of a marijuana cigar, a tin can containing loose marijuana, and other items used to smoke marijuana, Hebert said. Following the investigation, the juvenile was released to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
