Loreauville slips past WSM
LOREAUVILLE _ Jared Henry scored three touchdown leading the Loreauville Tigers to a 32-14 District 5-2A win over the West St. Mary Wolfpack here Thursday at the LHS Stadium.
Henry scored on runs of runs of 8, 9, and 1 yard yard to spark the Tigers (8-2, 5-2).
West St. Mary, which lost its top two quarterbacks on consecutive plays in the third quarter, scored its touchdowns in the second and fourth quarters.
West St. Mary starting quarterback Scottie Gray went down with what appeared to be a left ankle injury with just under 7 1/2 minutes to go. After a penalty before the next snap, backup Cameron Blake went down with a right leg injury. Dondre Johnson finished at quarterback for the Wolfpack.
Henry gave the Tigers a 6-0 lead in the second quarter on a 6-yard run. Henry’s 9-yard run in the second quarter lifted the Tigers to a 16-6 lead over the Wolfpack.
Gray scored West St. Mary’s first touchdown on a 34-yard run in the second quarter. In the fourth quarter, Wayne Armelin scored on a one-yard run followed by Johnson’s two-point conversion for the Wolfpack.
Loreauville added two touchdowns in the second half, first on an 86-yard kick return and then on Henry’s one-yard plunge to post a 32-14 win over the Wolfpack.
Armelin led the Wolfpack in rushing with 15 carries for 59 yards and one touchdown. Rodderick Hudson picked up 54 yards on 11 attempts while Scottie Gray finished with five carries for 19 yards and on score.
West St. Mary Wolfpack ended the regular season at 4-6 overall and 4-3 in District 5-2A.
