Hanson Lady Tigers hold off Lady Hornets
Carllie Pellerin tossed in 11 points, leading the Hanson Memorial Lady Tigers to a 32-22 victory over the Franklin Lady Hornets Tuesday at the Billy Gene Talbot Gymnasium.
Hanson raced outfront by a 13-7 first quarter lead before taking a 19-13 cushion at the half as both teams poured in six points apiece during the second stanza. HMS widened its lead to 28-17 in the third quarter thanks to a 9-4 run. Down the stretch, the Franklin Lady Hornets outpointed the Hanson Lady Tigers 5-4 but it was too late as the HMS Lady Tigers recorded the 32-22 victory.
Pellerin led the way for the Lady Tigers with 11 points on four deuces and one trey. Casey Fitzgerald finished with eight points while Baylee Young fired in six points with Sarah Daniel tossing in five and Rosemarie Colley bagging two points.
Chardonnae Parker led Franklin with nine points while Jazmine Byers recorded five points. Other top scorers for the Lady Hornets were: Kiara Butler, 4; Quanta Jones, 3 and A. Smith, 1.
Hanson will play host to West St. Mary on Friday while the Franklin Lady Hornets will open play in the Delcambre Lady Panthers Tournament which opens today.
