Boy accused of terrorizing students and staff members

A Morgan City male juvenile was arrested and accused of terrorizing several students and staff members at Morgan City High School, said Morgan City Police Chief James Blair in a news release.
—A juvenile male, of Morgan City, was arrested at 1 p.m. Monday on the charge of terrorizing. On Monday, the Morgan City Police Department arrested the boy after a complaint from Morgan City High School.
Morgan City Police officers investigated the matter and learned that the boy made threats to harm several students and staff members.
The officer, after speaking with witnesses, placed the juvenile under arrest. He was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked for terrorizing. The boy was held pending a juvenile court hearing.
Blair reported the following arrests:
—Nicole Harris, 42, of Garber Street in Morgan City at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for disturbing the peace by fighting.
Harris came to the Morgan City Police Department to turn herself in. The warrant stems from an investigation into a fight in the area of Garber Street on Dec. 10. Harris was booked into the Morgan City Police Department jail and later released after posting bond.
—Two juvenile males, of Morgan City, at 8:50 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Tuesday on the charges of simple burglary and unauthorized use of a movable.
On Tuesday, Morgan City Police Department detectives arrested two boys on charges of simple burglary and unauthorized use of a movable. The arrest stems from an investigation into subjects riding a four-wheeled ATV on the Morgan City High School baseball field.
The juveniles were identified after video showed the boys removing the ATV from a storage shed and entering a building on the baseball field where they were seen removing items. The matter is still under investigation and more arrests are pending.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 51 complaints and reported the following arrests:
—Kevin Koczen, 25, of Moon Road in Bayou Vista, at 2:43 a.m. today on the charges of careless operation of a motor vehicle, improper lane usage, and driving left of center.
A deputy observed a vehicle swerving on La. 182 in Amelia and conducted a traffic stop. The deputy made contact with the driver who was identified as Koczen. Following the traffic stop investigation, Koczen was released on a summons to appear in court on March 7.
—Jennifer Beecher, 31, of Beadle Street in Amelia, at 6:07 p.m. Tuesday on the charges of possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of Schedule IV (Xanax) with intent to distribute, possession of Schedule 1 (ecstasy), violation of a controlled dangerous substance law (drug free zone), possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a minor, possession of Schedule I (synthetic cannabinoids), possession of Schedule IV (Ambien), and possession of Schedule 3 (Subutex).
Detectives with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division conducted a search warrant at Beecher’s residence. Detectives located marijuana cigarettes, Xanax, Ambien and Subutex pills, ecstasy, a marijuana grinder, methamphetamine, several methamphetamine pipes, digital scales, small plastic baggies, and a bag of synthetic cannabinoids.
Detectives observed a small child playing in the front yard when they arrived. Detectives also learned that Beecher had attempted to sell the Xanax that they located in the residence.
The investigation took place within two thousand feet of a church. Beecher was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
—Hakeemia Bias, 21, of Friendship Alley in Amelia, at 6:27 p.m. Tuesday on the charges of resisting an officer, possession of Schedule II narcotics (crack cocaine) with intent to distribute, possession of Schedule I drugs (synthetic cannabinoids) with intent to distribute, and violation of a controlled dangerous substance law (drug free zone).
Narcotics detectives patrolling Amelia observed Bias walking on Friendship Alley. When Bias saw the detectives, he immediately grabbed his pockets and took off running. Detectives identified themselves as law enforcement officers and followed Bias on foot.
After the short foot pursuit, detectives detained Bias pending further investigation.
When asked, Bias told narcotics detectives that he ran because he had some marijuana on him.
Detectives located a pill bottle in Bias’s pocket that contained 19 rocks of crack cocaine and seven individually packaged bags of synthetic cannabinoids.
This investigation occurred less than 2,000 feet from a church at the end of Friendship Alley. Bias was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Jarrod Bellard, 31, of Row Four in Lafayette, at 6:41 a.m. Tuesday on the charges of speeding 34 in 20 miles per hour zone and driving under suspension. Bellard was released on bail set at $1,250.
