Morgan City man booked on several FTA warrants
A 22-year-old Morgan City man was booked Monday on multiple failure to appear warrants on charges including possession of marijuana third offense, contempt of court and resisting an officer, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Vincent Thomas Jr., 22, of the 100 block of Mount Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:44 p.m. Monday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of marijuana third offense, operating a vehicle with a suspended license, improper turn/failure to give required signal and seven Morgan City Court warrants for failure to appear on three charges of contempt of court and charges of possession of synthetic cannabinoids, resisting an officer, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of stolen things
A deputy working in the Amelia area made contact with Thomas and located the active warrants for his arrest. Thomas was jailed with no bail set.
Hebert reported responding to 35 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Glenn Womack, 50, of the 600 block of Seventy Nine Pines Lane in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 9:32 a.m. Monday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal neglect of family. A deputy located Womack at his home on the warrant and transported him to the parish jail for booking. Bail is set at $48,535.48.
—Shane Scott, 32, of the 1200 block of Spruce Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:45 p.m. Monday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of operating a vehicle with a suspended license. During booking at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center, a correctional officer located the active warrant for Scott. No bail is set.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Jana N. Jones, 40, of First Street in Patterson, was arrested at 9:10 p.m. Monday on a warrant for failure to appear for theft by shoplifting.
Jones came into the Morgan City Police Department where she was arrested on a warrant held by the Sixth Ward Morgan City Court. Jones was jailed.
—Brian L. Weston, 27, of St. Clair Street in Berwick, was arrested at 1:41 a.m. today on the charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, improper lighting and improper lane usage.
A patrolling officer observed a vehicle with improper rear lighting traveling out of its lane of travel on La. 182 near the U.S. 90 and La. 70 junction and conducted a traffic stop. The driver was identified as Weston. During the investigation, Weston’s behavior made officers suspicious that he may be involved in illegal drug activity, Blair said.
Officers searched the vehicle and located suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Weston was jailed.
—Jody S. Shannon, 55, of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:22 a.m. today on a charge of appearing in public in an intoxicated condition.
An officer responded to a local store on La. 182 in regard to a complaint of a subject stumbling in the area. Officers located Shannon, who was believed to have been drinking and appeared to be intoxicated. Shannon was jailed.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—Tamika Baker, 36, of the 1700 block of Guyther Street in Patterson, was arrested at 9:36 p.m. Monday on the charges of disturbing the peace by language, expired motor vehicle inspection sticker, expired license plate, no insurance, DWI by refusal and a warrant charging her with two headlights required and no insurance. No bail is set yet.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
