Police: Man disrupted city court proceedings

A 23-year-old Morgan City man was jailed Tuesday after becoming disruptive in city court, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Brennan J. Foreman, 23, of Susan Court in Morgan City, was arrested at 2 p.m. Tuesday on the charge of contempt of court.
During court proceedings of the 6th Ward City Court, Foreman became disruptive, Blair said. Foreman was booked into jail.
Blair reported the following arrests:
—Sammy Morgan Sr., 48, of St. Clair Street in Morgan City, at midnight Tuesday on the charge of theft of goods.
Officers were dispatched to a business on Federal Avenue in regards to a theft. Management told officers that Morgan had concealed items on him and left the store, Blair said. Officers located Morgan in the area of Egle Street. Morgan admitted to the theft and was jailed.
—Devonne J. Canty, 31, of Utah Street in Berwick, at 3:33 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of speeding. Canty was booked into jail and incarcerated.
—John F. Sanford, 47, of Fourth Street in Morgan City, at 2:34 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of simple battery. Sanford was booked into jail and incarcerated.
—Keiera Wood, 19, Canary Street in Morgan City, at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant charging her with probation violation. Wood was booked into jail and incarcerated.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 39 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Juanita M. Landry, 50, of the 1600 block of Victor II Boulevard in Morgan City, at 8:19 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of operating a vehicle with a suspended license, expired license plate light, and expired motor vehicle inspection.
A deputy conducting a traffic stop on Southeast Boulevard in Bayou Vista made contact with the driver of the vehicle, identified as Landry. While speaking with Landry, the deputy found an active warrant for her arrest. Landry was booked into parish jail and released on $500 personal surety bail.
—Rashaud A. Thomas, 21, of the 1100 block of Grace Street in Morgan City, at 11:03 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of direct contempt, speeding, and failure to honor written promise to appear.
A deputy patrolling Siracusa made contact with Thomas who was walking on Grace Street. While speaking with Thomas, the deputy located an active warrant for his arrest. Thomas was booked into parish jail with bail set at $360.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Devonne Canty, 31, of the 500 block of Utah Street in Berwick, at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday on a Morgan City police warrant charging her with failure to appear on the charge of speeding and on the charges of driving under suspension, license plate required and turning movements and required signals. Canty was transported to the Morgan City Police Department.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
