Franklin boys third, girls fifth in 8-3A meet

THIBODAUX _ The Franklin Hornets placed third while the Franklin Lady Hornets finished fifth in the District 8-3A Track and Field Meet held here Wednesday at the E. D. White Catholic High School Track.
The Franklin Hornets collected seven victories en route to a third place finished after totaling 90 points. E. D. White ran away with the title with 157 total points with the Berwick Panthers finishing second with 98 points. Kaplan tallied 88 points for fourth place while North Vermilion High School was fifth with 52 points ahead of Patterson placing sixth with 44 points and Erath was seventh with 29 points.
The Lady Cardinals of E. D. White won the 2016 District 8-3A Girls Track Title with 145 points. North Vermilion was second with 135.5 points while Kaplan’s Lady Pirates was third with 135 points. The Erath Lady Bobcats placed fourth with 81 points while Franklin placed fifth with 25 points. Patterson’s Lady Jills finished sixth with 21 points while the Berwick Lady Panthers finished seventh with 14.5.
Franklin’s top finishers were: Avontre Perro, first, 100, 11.22; Hakim Ruffin, first, 200, 22.13; Ervin Collins, first, 800, 2:04.20; Kyran Webb, first, 110 hurdles, 15.20; Kyran Webb, first, 300, 42.44; 4x200 (Ervin Collins, Avontre Perro, Kyran Webb, Dominique Henry), first, 1:30.39; 4X400 (Todrick Toussaint, Kyran Webb, Dominique Henry, Ervin Webb), first, 3:30.20; Roy Jackson, second, discus, 116-00; Elijah Spain, fourth, shot put, 41-01 and Tylon Ireland, javelin, fourth, 126-06.
Franklin Lady Hornet Chaquire Jenkins won the 400 meter in the time of 1:02.90 for her team’s lone victory.
Franklin also posted a third place finish in the  4x400 on the heels of Terrionca Dangerfield, Jazmine Byers, Chaquire Jenkins and  Al’Kia Robinson in the time of 4:46.34.
