Three caught in drug bust at Morgan City home

Three people were arrested on drug charges Monday after authorities searched a First Street home in Morgan City, locating methamphetamine, marijuana and illegal drug proceeds, Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Jared J. Bergeron, 34, of First Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:31 p.m. Monday on the charges of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, transaction involving drug proceeds and violation of uniformed controlled dangerous substance laws.
—Bridget P. Mayon, 39, of First Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:31 p.m. Monday on the charges of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, transactions involving drug proceeds and violation of uniformed controlled dangerous substance laws.
—Amy C. Turner, 41, of Fourth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:31 p.m. Monday on the charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting an officer and obstruction of justice.
Morgan City Police Department narcotics detectives along with the assistance of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at a home on First Street in Morgan City. Upon entering the home, investigators located Mayon inside and saw several people attempting to flee the home on foot, Blair said.
Investigators captured them moments later. One was identified as Turner, who admitted she was in possession of drug paraphernalia and that she had attempted to dispose of the paraphernalia while fleeing the home. Upon securing the home, investigators saw Bergeron inside a vehicle in front of the home. Investigators stopped Bergeron, at which time investigators escorted him inside.
Authorities searched the home and located suspected marijuana, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and proceeds believed to be from illegal drug sales. The location of the incident was within the area of a local church, which is in violation of uniformed controlled dangerous substance laws. Bergeron, Mayon and Turner were jailed.
Blair reported the following arrests:
—Malayai Francois, 17, of Shaw Street in Morgan City, at 1:10 p.m. Monday on the charge of disturbing the peace by fighting.
An officer responded to a local school on Hickory Street in regards to a report of a fight. The officer arrived and spoke with one of the school administrators who witnessed the incident. The officer was told that Francois and another female juvenile were involved in a fistic fight while on school grounds. The officer observed evidence of the alleged fight. Francois was jailed.
—Adrien M. Hardy, 34, of Texo Street in Pierre Part, at 4:24 p.m. Monday on the charges of no turn signal, no vehicle insurance, expired driver’s license, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of methamphetamine.
Narcotics detectives observed a vehicle make an improper turn at the intersection of First Street at Railroad Avenue and conducted a traffic stop and the driver was identified as Hardy.
Hardy’s behavior aroused investigators suspicions that Hardy may be involved in illegal drug activity. Investigators searched the vehicle and located suspected marijuana, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Hardy was jailed.
—Shawn Lee, 46, of Egle Street in Morgan City, at 5:59 p.m. Monday on the charge of criminal damage to property.
An officer responded to a home on Egle Street in regards to a reported disturbance involving damage to property. The officer spoke with a subject who was later identified as the victim of the incident. The officer was told that Lee and the victim were involved in an argument in which Lee allegedly struck and caused damage to the victim’s vehicle.
The officer located Lee at the home and told the officer that he had struck the victim’s vehicle. Evidence of the damaged property was observed by the officer and Lee was jailed.
—Joseph Estay, 46, of Aucoin Street in Morgan City, at 7:13 p.m. Monday on a warrant charging him with telephone harassment.
Officers located Estay at an address on Aucoin Street and arrested him on a warrant stemming from an incident reported March 21. Estay was jailed.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Andrew Hebert, 24, of Utah Street in Berwick, at 7:32 p.m. Thursday on a warrant charging him with disturbing the peace and resisting an officer. Hebert’s bail is set at $1,250, and he also has a hold on him for probation and parole.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 35 complaints in the parish and reported no arrests.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
