Two area girls make Girl Scouts’ Cookie Hall of Fame

BATON ROUGE — Girl Scouts have completed, yet another successful product sale during this year’s Cookie Program, selling more than 1 million boxes of cookies in the Girl Scouts Louisiana East council’s 23-parish territory, with the girls averaging 162 boxes each.
Morgan City’s Abigail Clements sold 851 boxes and Gabriella Morice sold 506 boxes earning them Girl Scouts’ Cookie Hall of Fame honors.
The program continues to forge a prosperous path for young girls to develop leadership and business skills, according to Chief Customer Experience Officer Alisha Moore.
Going on a second year, Girl Scouts became digital entrepreneurs as they were able to market and sell cookies over the Internet using a mobile app and personalized websites, which ushers in great results not only for the girls but council wide.
“Each year, our girls strive to meet their goals and gain skills that can be used throughout their life,” said Moore.
A total of 263 girls entered Girl Scouts Louisiana East’s Cookie Hall of Fame for selling 500 or more boxes of cookies, including 36 girls who sold more than 1,000 boxes, and one “Cookie Mogul” – Girl Scout Daisy Guliette Bourgeois of Harvey who sold 2,506 boxes, becoming this year’s top seller.
Through participation in the cookie program, troops are provided funding for troop activities, trips and community service projects. Girls also received individual recognitions such as patches, T-shirts, and journals with some top awards including electronics, cookie dough, luggage, and a “Diva Event,” for girls who sold 500 or more boxes. The Diva Event girls were invited to a special Girl Scout Night with the New Orleans Pelicans.
Seventy-three girls achieved the Chief Entrepreneur Officer level for a day of bowling, laser tag and bumper cars at Premiere Lanes in Gonzales in June.
