Inmate faces new charges after jail incident

Jonah Madison, 21, of Franklin, faces two new counts of battery on a correctional facility employee after an incident at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center, Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.

Madison is an inmate at the center.

At 3:33 p.m. Monday, two correctional officers were transferring Madison from a cell when the inmate kicked and punched the correctional officers.

Madison remains incarcerated. No bail is set.

Hebert reported responding to 30 complaints and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:

—Caleb Landry, 17, of the 300 block of Saturn Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 10:30 a.m. Monday on a warrant for misdemeanor carnal knowledge of a juvenile.

A detective investigating a report of carnal knowledge of a juvenile found evidence that Landry had sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old girl at a residence in Bayou Vista in April. Landry turned himself in after learning of the warrant for his arrest.

Landry was transported to the parish jail for booking and was released after posting bail at $1,500.

—Sierra Vincent, 27, of the 120 block of Oak Street in Morgan City, at 7:39 p.m. Monday on the charges of possession of marijuana and ecstasy with intent to distribute, possession of Lortab and Xanax, transactions involving drug proceeds, and possession of controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a minor.

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit was conducting a traffic stop on U.S. 90 in the Berwick area when K-9 Buddy indicated the presence of illegal drugs in the rear passenger area of the vehicle.

The narcotics detective made contact with a passenger seated in the rear of the vehicle and identified her as Vincent. A juvenile was also located in the vehicle at the time of the investigation.

During a search, a narcotics detective located five bags of marijuana, 19 ecstasy pills, Xanax pills and a Lortab pill in the vehicle and on Vincent’s person.

The detective also located $316 in cash and collected evidence that the money was derived from the sale of illegal drugs. Vincent was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:

—Erik S. Driskill, 41, of Second Street in Morgan City, at 4:30 p.m. Monday on warrants for contempt of court, probation violation, and failure to appear for criminal neglect of family.

Driskill was arrested in Morgan City Court regarding two active warrants held by the 6th Ward Morgan City Court and one active warrant held by 16th Judicial District Court.

Driskill was booked into the Morgan City Jail and incarcerated.

—Tagger M. Rosson, 18, of Dawn Drive in Morgan City, at 9:56 p.m. Monday on warrants for theft (two counts).

Rosson was located by officers in the area of La. 70. He was arrested on active warrants held by the Morgan City Police Department and the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The Morgan City Police Department warrant was obtained as the result of an investigation conducted by Morgan City Police detectives regarding an alleged theft reported April 20.

Rosson was transported to the Morgan City Jail and was booked and incarcerated.

—Michael J. Langston, 36, of North Second Street in Morgan City, at 11:47 p.m. Monday on the charge of disturbing the peace intoxicated.

An officer responded to a local drug store on Brashear Avenue regarding a call of a suspicious person in the area. A description was provided and the officer located a subject matching the description identified as Langston.

While conversing with the officer, Langston appeared to be intoxicated. The officer attempted to allow Langston to call a taxi when he got belligerent and began shouting loudly causing a disturbance. Langston was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated .

—Jahmarcus L. Paddio, 19, of Freret Street in Morgan City at 1:27 a.m. today on warrants for contempt of court, and entry or remaining where forbidden.

Paddio was transported from the Berwick Police Department to the Morgan City Police Department Jail in regards to active warrants held by the 6th Ward Morgan City Court. Paddio was booked into the Morgan City Jail and incarcerated.

Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:

—Chasity V. Bourgeois, 42, of the 200 block of Main Street in Patterson, at 6:58 p.m. Monday on a warrant for simple battery with medical attention. Bourgeois was released on bail set at $1,065.

Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:

—Jahmarcus Paddio, 19, of East Main Street in Lockport, at 12:20 a.m. today on warrants for remaining where forbidden and contempt of court. Paddio was booked in Berwick and transported to Morgan City Police Department for housing.
