Patterson High seniors graduate tonight

Patterson High School seniors will graduate at a 7 p.m. commencement ceremony today at the school gymnasium.
No one will be admitted to the gym after 6:50 p.m.
This year’s valedictorians, both of whom maintained perfect 4.0 grade point averages, are J’Mia Angelle-Imani Young and Aaliyah Stewart.
Young is the daughter of Damita DeClouet-Young and Joseph Young.
Her extracurricular activities include serving as Beta Club president and a PHS mentor. She is a member of the 4-H Club and the National Honor Society, and is an eighth-degree Crackerjack. She describes herself as a student community activist.
Young’s volunteerism includes work at Cinderella Head Start, the Grogan Family Easter Bash and the Good Hope Baptist Church Youth Division.
She plans to major in biology (pre-med) at Xavier University in New Orleans.
Stewart is the daughter of Michael and Arlene Stewart.
Stewart has served on the Student Council as senior class president, co-editor of the yearbook and as a mentor. She was in the Beta Club and participated in softball and in track and field.
Stewart has served as a Vacation Bible Scholl teacher at New Salem Baptist Church.
She plans to study neuroscience at Tulane University in New Orleans.
Also winning places among the top 10 graduates are Randionna Paul, Dakera Schexnayder, Y’neisha Dewey, J’Briann Johnson, Celeste Stevenson, Alexandra Benjamin, Brennan Gouaux and Gaylen Grogan.
