Houma woman charged in 2009 attempted murder, kidnapping

A 37-year-old Houma woman was booked Monday on attempted murder and kidnapping charges stemming from a 2009 incident. The woman and two other suspects kidnapped a female victim in Youngsville, beat her, drove her to St. Mary Parish and left her on the side of the road with a broken jaw, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Chantel Guillotte, 37, of the 100 block of Whispering Oaks Court in Houma, was arrested at 1:18 p.m. Monday on a warrant charging her with attempted second-degree murder and aggravated kidnapping.
The warrant stems from an investigation into a September 2009 incident when a deputy found an injured female walking on La. 182 near Allain Road.
Working with the Youngsville Police Department, the detective assigned to the case identified three suspects in the crime. The detective collected evidence that Guillotte and two other suspects that the victim knew forced the victim into a vehicle at a home in Youngsville and struck her repeatedly, Hebert said.
The suspects then drove to St. Mary Parish, forced the victim out of the vehicle, continued to hit her, and then left the victim. The victim was treated for a broken jaw and other injuries at an area hospital, Hebert said.
Guillotte turned herself in at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Franklin. She was booked into parish jail and then transferred to the Morgan City Police Department for housing with no bail set.
The other two suspects in the case are Lionel Pellerin, and Julie Menard. Pellerin was arrested on a warrant for attempted second degree murder and aggravated kidnapping in July 2010. The 2009 warrant for Menard on the charges of principal to attempted second degree murder, principal to aggravated kidnapping, and obstruction of justice remains active, Sheriff's Office Spokeswoman Traci Landry said.
Hebert reported responding to 41 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrest relating to east St. Mary Parish:
—Brandon Cormier, 33, of the 500 block of Catherine Street in Patterson, was arrested at 9:24 a.m. Monday for failure to report an accident and hit-and-run driving.
A deputy received information about a possible vehicle crash. The deputy went to Cormier’s home and located a damaged vehicle. The deputy collected statements that Cormier was involved in a crash while driving on La. 3215 in Garden City and then left the scene of the crash without reporting the incident.

Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Terrell D. Mingo, 26, of Bowman Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:42 p.m. Monday on a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant charging him with theft of goods.
Police located Mingo on Bowman Street and placed him under arrest for an active warrant for the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office. Mingo was jailed.
—Kevin R. Pizano, 31, of Moon Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 6:18 p.m. Monday on the charges of possession of marijuana first offense, possession of drug paraphernalia, illuminating devices required, no turn signal and resisting an officer.
While narcotics division investigators were patrolling the area of Adams and Second streets, they saw a vehicle turning onto Second Street without using a turn signal. Police stopped the vehicle, with the driver being identified as Pizano. Pizano’s behavior made investigators suspicious that he may be involved in illegal drug activity, Blair said.
Investigators located suspected marijuana on Pizano and items used to smoke illegal narcotics. During the investigation, investigators learned that Pizano had given them a false name. Pizano was jailed.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
