Morgan City man accused of battery
A 47-year-old Morgan City man was arrested for allegedly committing battery on a victim, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—John F. Sanford, 47, of Fourth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:14 p.m. Saturday on a charge of domestic abuse battery.
Officers responded to an address on Fourth Street in regard to a report of a disturbance. The officers arrived and spoke with Sanford. Sanford told officers that he and another occupant of the residence, who left the residence before officers arrived, were involved in an argument. While speaking with Sanford, evidence of a disturbance was observed by the officers.
During an investigation of the incident, officers located the other occupant of the residence at an address on Missouri Street who showed signs of being battered. The officers were told that the victim and Sanford were involved in an argument when Sanford allegedly committed a battery on the victim.
Sanford was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.

—Selena M. Percle , 18, of Jamie Court in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:10 p.m. Friday on a warrant for simple battery.
Percle was located by officers at a residence on Front Street where she was arrested on an active warrant held by the Morgan City Police Department. The warrant was obtained from an investigation conducted by the Morgan City Police of an alleged battery. Percle was transported to the Morgan City Jail where she was booked and incarcerated.
—Mary Mayfield, 59, of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:25 p.m. Friday on the charge of disturbing the peace.
Officers responded to an apartment complex on La. 182 regarding a female causing a disturbance. The officers arrived and observed a female, later identified as Mayfield, shouting and using profane language and causing a disturbance. The officers then spoke with Mayfield, who according to reports, was suspected to have been drinking and appeared to be intoxicated.
Mayfield was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Jail where she was booked and incarcerated.
—Matthew G. Mitchell, 28, of Brashear Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:19 a.m. Saturday on the charges of driving while intoxicated and improper lane usage.
A patrolling officer observed a vehicle on La. 182 traveling out of its lane of travel. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver of the vehicle was identified as Mitchell. During a traffic investigation, Mitchell was suspected to have been drinking and was believed to be intoxicated.
Mitchell was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for further chemical testing where Mitchell submitted to the Intoxilyzer 5000, yielding a blood alcohol concentration of 0.133 grams percent. Mitchell was placed under arrest and booked into the Morgan City Jail where he was incarcerated.
—Jean L. Gros , 37, of Utah Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:21 p.m. Saturday on a warrant for failure to appear for criminal neglect of family.
Gros was located by officers on Federal Avenue near Greenwood Street. Gros was arrested on an active warrant held by the 16th Judicial District Court. Gros was transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.
—Arne Brewer, 50, of General Patton Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:57 p.m. Saturday on a warrant for failure to appear for disturbing the peace.
Brewer was located by officers at a residence on Fourth Street where Brewer was arrested on an active warrant held by the 6th Ward Morgan City Court. Brewer was transported to the Morgan City Jail and was booked and incarcerated.
—Jacob Salley , 38, of First Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:09 p.m. Saturday on a warrant for probation violation.
Salley was located by officers on Florida Street near Brashear Avenue where Salley was arrested on an active warrant held by the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office. Salley was booked into the Morgan City Jail and incarcerated.
—Erin LaSalle, 29, of Parlange Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:50 p.m. Saturday on warrants for unauthorized use of a movable and simple battery.
LaSalle was transported from the Berwick Police Department to the Morgan City Police Department in regard to active warrants held by the Morgan City Police. The warrants were obtained from investigations conducted by the Morgan City Police Department of two incidents, one of an alleged unauthorized use of a movable and the other of an alleged battery.
LaSalle was booked into the Morgan City Jail and incarcerated.
—Donald R. Anderson, 48, of Brashear Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:32 p.m. Saturday on the charges of disturbing the peace intoxicated and unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling.
Officers responded to a residence on Brashear Avenue in regard to a reported battery. The officers arrived when they spoke with Anderson who told officers that he went to a neighboring home at which time an occupant committed a battery on Anderson.
While speaking with Anderson, the officers suspected Anderson to have been drinking and believed that Anderson was intoxicated. Police then went to the neighboring home and spoke with several witnesses to the incident. Police were told that Anderson had gone to the home and entered without authorization, Blair said.
Police also learned that an occupant of the home pushed Anderson in an attempt to get Anderson out of the home, Blair said. Anderson was jailed.
—Brandy L. Turner, 27, of Ninth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:44 a.m. Sunday on warrants for failure to pay fines on the charge of possession of stolen property and for probation violation. Turner was transported to the Morgan City Police Department jail from the St. Mary Parish jail in regard to active warrants.
—Carl R. Miller, 24, of Kirby Lane in Gibson, was arrested at 2:01 a.m. Sunday on the charges of DWI , reckless operation of a motor vehicle and on a 32nd Judicial District warrant for failure to appear to pay fines.
Officers responded to the parking lot of a lounge in regard to a report of a fight. Upon arriving, several witnesses said that one of the subjects involved, Miller, had gotten into a vehicle and was observed driving in a reckless manner in the parking lot before fleeing the area.
Officers located a vehicle on La. 182 matching the description provided and stopped the vehicle. The driver, Miller, appeared to be intoxicated. Miller submitted to the Intoxilyzer 5000, yielding a blood alcohol concentration of 0.150 grams-percent. Miller was jailed
—Kirk Hatcher, 29, of Apple Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:38 p.m. Sunday on warrants for failure to appear on the charge of possession of marijuana, failure to appear on the charge of resisting an officer, contempt of court, failure to appear on the charge of possession of marijuana and probation violation. Officers located Hatcher on Bowman Street and arrested him on several warrants. Hatcher was jailed.
— Donzell Gaskins, 25, of Apple Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:43 p.m. Sunday on the charges of reckless operation of a motor vehicle and no driver’s license.
A patrolling officer observed a vehicle being operated in a reckless manner in the area of Sixth Street near Onstead Street and stopped the vehicle. The driver, Gaskins, did not have a valid driver’s license and was jailed.
—Cole M. Richard, 23, of Lois Street in Addis, was arrested at 12:30 a.m. Monday on the charges of careless operation of a motor vehicle, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal damage to property.
A patrolling officer observed a vehicle inside Lake End Park traveling at a high rate of speed and in a careless manner. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was identified as Richard.
Richard’s behavior aroused the officer’s suspicious that Richard may be involved in illegal drug activity. Officers searched the vehicle and located suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. During Richard’s arrest, he pulled away from officers, Blair said. During a short struggle, Richard damaged a door inside the facility. Richard was jailed.
—Harry Irvin Jr., 49, of Garber Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:15 a.m. Monday on the charge of disturbing the peace intoxicated.
A patrolling officer observed a person on a bicycle in the area of Onstead and Front streets. The person turned onto the sidewalk, nearly falling down, Blair said. The officer spoke with the subject, identified as Irvin, who appeared to be intoxicated. Irvin was jailed.
—Lance C. Carbins , 41, of Mallard Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:21 p.m. Monday on warrants charging him with failure to appear on the charge of disturbing the peace and for probation violation.
Officers located Carbins at a home on Mallard Street. Carbins was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 114 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Paula D. Lane, 35, of the 8500 block of U.S. 90 Frontage Road in Franklin, was arrested at 7:14 p.m. Friday on the charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit patrolling the Patterson area conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on U.S. 90 after observing the driver following too closely. The detective made contact with the driver, Lane.
While speaking with Lane, the detective received consent to search the vehicle and located a small bag of marijuana, a marijuana cigarette commonly referred to as a joint, and rolling papers in her purse. Lane was released on a summons to appear in court Aug. 29.
—Chris M. Johnson, 23, of the 100 block of La. 400 in Napoleonville, was arrested at 10:34 p.m. Friday on the charges of speeding and driving under suspension. A deputy working radar on U.S. 90 observed a vehicle traveling 73 mph in a 55 mph zone. The deputy conducted a traffic stop near Universe Street in Bayou Vista. While speaking with the driver, identified as Johnson, the deputy found that he was operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. Johnson was released on a summons to appear in court Aug. 29.
—Louis N. Lee, 60, no address, was arrested at 10:27 a.m. Saturday on the charges of vagrancy, resisting an officer by refusing to give information, and battery on a police officer.
A deputy responded to a complaint of a suspicious person on Belleview Street in Bayou Vista. The deputy made contact with Lee and learned that he had been sleeping behind a nearby business. Lee refused to give his name to the deputy. During Lee’s arrest, he kicked a deputy in the leg, Hebert said. Lee was jailed with bail set at $2,250.
—Demarcus D. Moses, 36, of the 300 block of Belle Place in New Iberia, was arrested at 4:48 p.m. Monday on the charge of criminal trespass.
A deputy working detail for the St. Mary Parish Levee District observed two vehicles parked on the unprotected side of the levee on Levee Road in the Franklin area. The deputy identified Moses as the driver of one of the vehicles. The deputy then pointed out to Moses the numerous signs posted in the area advising drivers about the levee laws. Moses was subsequently released on a summons to appear in court Aug. 29.
—Tanner Aucoin, 20, of the 200 block of Bowman Street in Berwick, was arrested at 8:05 p.m. Wednesday on five warrants for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of drug court.
During Aucoin’s booking at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for another agency, a correctional officer located the active warrants for his arrest. Aucoin remains incarcerated with bail set at $500,000.
— Brodney Williams, 26, of the 1800 block of N Street in Patterson, was arrested at 8:16 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of driving under suspension and speeding. While booking Williams at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on behalf of another agency, a correctional officer located the active warrant for his arrest. No bail is set.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—Bobby Randy Mouton, 41, of the 800 block of Tall Timbers in Patterson, was arrested at 6:59 p.m. Monday on the charge of remaining after being forbidden.
—Brandi Turner, 27, of the 1300 block of Ninth Street in Patterson, was arrested at 4:37 p.m. Saturday on the charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia and child endangerment. Turner was jailed with no bail set yet.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Christopher Sylvester Jr., 20, of Versen Street in Berwick, was arrested at 4:21 p.m. Monday on the charge of disturbing the peace. Sylvester was released on bail set at $175.
—Erin LaSalle, 29, of Wheelis Lane in Morgan City, was arrested at 10 p.m. Friday on two warrants with the Morgan City Police Department for unauthorized use of an immovable and simple battery.
LaSalle was transported to the Morgan City Police Department Jail.
