Police: Man booked for domestic abuse, child endangerment
A 30-year-old Morgan City man was charged with domestic abuse and child endangerment Monday after he committed a battery on a woman in the presence of a 2-year-old girl, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Jorge Sanchez, 30, of Terrebonne Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:14 p.m. Monday on the charges of domestic abuse battery and domestic abuse child-endangerment.
Police responded to a residence on Terrebonne Street in regard to a report of a domestic disturbance. Officers arrived and located a woman, later identified as the victim of a battery, a 2-year-old girl, and Sanchez.
During an investigation, police were told that the woman and Sanchez were involved in a verbal argument when Sanchez committed a battery on the woman while in the presence of the child, Blair said.
During conversations with officers, Sanchez was suspected to have been drinking and appeared to be intoxicated. Sanchez was jailed.
Blair reported the following arrests:
—Jonathan K. Perry, 32, of N Street in Patterson, was arrested at 4:54 p.m. Friday on the charges of obscured windshield, driving under suspension, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, illegal use of controlled dangerous substance while in the presence of persons under age 17, and violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance laws.
—Keldon O. Jones, 23, of Leo Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 6:11 p.m. Friday on the charges of possession with intent to distribute MDMA (ecstasy), illegal use of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of people under age 17 and violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance laws.
A patrolling officer observed a vehicle traveling in the area of Cottonwood Street near Victor II Boulevard with a busted front windshield which appeared to be obstructing the drivers view. A traffic stop was conducted with the assistance of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office when the officer observed three occupants inside the vehicle including the driver, Perry; passenger, Jones; and a 7-year-old boy.
A driver’s license check was conducted which revealed that Perry had a suspended driver’s license. During the investigation, Perry and Jones’ behavior made officers suspicious that they may be involved in illegal drug activity.
A search of the vehicle was conducted when the officers located suspected cocaine and ecstasy. The location of the incident was within the area of a local church in violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance laws. Both Perry and Jones were jailed.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Heather Booty, 36, of Willow Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:54 p.m. Monday on the charge of DWI first offense. No bail is set.
