Taco Bell routs TrimCo Millwork & Supply, 13-2

Taco Bell run-ruled TrimCo Millwork & Supply, 13-2, in five innings in Swampland baseball action in Berwick Tuesday.
Taco Bell (Berwick) led 1-0 after an inning and extended its lead to 6-0 after three innings.
While TrimCo (Patterson) added two runs in the top of the fourth, Taco Bell responded with five runs in the bottom of the frame and two more in the bottom of the fifth to end the game via the 10-run mercy rule.
Collin Kulka earned the win, tossing a complete-game three hitter. In five innings, he surrendered two runs — one earned — on three hits with one walk, one hit batter and three strikeouts.
Offensively, Bradley Gray led Taco Bell with a 2-for-3 performance with a home run, three RBIs and two runs. Other top offensive contributors included Cameron Wiley, 2-for-3, two RBIs and two runs; Ty Duthu, 2-for-3, an RBI; Lucas Hatch, 1-for-2, two RBIs; Austin Price, 1-for-2, a double and two runs; D.J. Robicheaux, 1-for-2, a double and a run; and Denver Jenkins, 1-for-1, a double, two RBIs and a run.

“I thought (Taco Bell) swung that bat really well in the middle innings and took advantage of some opportunities we provided them,” TrimCo coach Ryan Jensen said. “I’m proud of the guys who played yesterday in junior varsity and varsity. I thought they played with good effort.
“We had many guys forced to play out of position and asked to do things that maybe don’t fit their skill set because of the selfishness of a handful of others,” Jensen added. “It’s unfortunate, but we’ll move forward and finish out the summer with the guys who want to be there and are willing to be dependable and play for their teammates. Those guys competed as best they could last night, and I’m thankful for that.”
Jamey Fabre suffered the loss for TrimCo. In three innings, he surrendered six runs — five earned — on six hits with two walks, one hit batter and one strikeout.
Noah Bryant led TrimCo with a 2-for-2 performance with a run, while Brandt Lightsey recorded an RBI.
In junior varsity action, Taco Bell defeated TrimCo, 7-4.
While Taco Bell took a 1-0 lead after an inning, TrimCo responded with two runs in the top of the second for a 2-1 advantage.
However, Taco Bell took the lead for good with two runs in the bottom of the second and three in the bottom of the third for a 6-2 lead.
While TrimCo cut its deficit to 6-4 in the top of the fourth, Taco Bell responded with a run in the bottom of the frame for the final margin.
Shayne Berger led Taco Bell with a 1-for-1 performance with a double, two RBIs, a stolen base and a run. Other top offensive contributors included Hunter Landry, 1-for-2, an RBI and a stolen base; Adam Askew, 1-for-2, a double and a run; Barret Hover, 1-for-3, a double and a run; Rustin Ratcliff, an RBI, a stolen base and a run; and Luke Boudreaux and Evan Thomas, each an RBI.
Ratcliff earned the win. In two innings, he surrendered two runs — both earned — on two hits with three walks and one hit batter.
Chad LaGrange suffered the loss. In two innings, he surrendered six runs — five earned — on five hits with two walks, two hit batters and fanned one.
Offensively, Reid Perkins led TrimCo with a 2-for-3 performance. Other top offensive contributors included Dylan Blanchard, 1-for-2, two RBIs; and Bryant, 1-for-1, an RBI and a run.
TrimCo (1-9) will return to action Thursday when it hosts Taco Bell. Junior varsity action is set for a 5 p.m. start with varsity to follow at 7 p.m.
Taco Bell (8-2) will return to action today when it hosts Halimar Shipyard (Central Catholic) in a makeup game. The varsity-only contest is set for a 5:30 p.m. start.
Skipper’s run-rules the Diamondbacks
Skippers for Sports run-ruled the Diamondbacks, 10-0, in five innings in Swampland baseball action Tuesday in Morgan City.
Morgan City-based Skippers took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first and added six in the bottom of the third for a 7-0 advantage.
Skipper’s scored a run in the fourth and two in the bottom of the fifth to end the game via the 10-run mercy rule.
The Diamondbacks (Terrebonne) and Skipper’s each had four hits.
Logan Tingle earned the win. In four innings, he surrendered four hits, three walks, hit one batter and fanned three.
Offensively, Tucker Manuel led Skipper’s with a 1-for-2 performance with two RBIs and a run. Other top offensive contributors included Logan Gros, 1-for-2, an RBI and a run; Malik Phillips, 1-for-3, an RBI and a run; and Mitchell Mancuso, two RBIs.
In junior varsity action, Skipper’s used a five-run fourth to give it the cushion it needed in a 7-4 victory against the Diamondbacks.
With the game tied at 2, Skipper’s scored five runs in the frame for a 7-2 advantage. The Diamondbacks scored two runs in the top of the fifth but could get no closer.
Skipper’s took a 2-0 lead after the first inning before the Diamondbacks tied the score at 2 in the top of the second.
Skipper’s outhit the Diamondbacks, 8-3.

Offensively, Hayden Barron led Skipper’s with a 2-for-2 performance with a double, an RBI and a two runs. Other top offensive contributors included Seth Canty, 2-for-3, a double, a stolen base and two runs; Dylan Tingle and Braxton Fontenot, each 1-for-3 with an RBI; Mancuso, 1-for-1, two RBIs; and Noah Aucoin and Khairick Hartley, an RBI apiece.
In junior varsity action Monday, Morgan City defeated Crawdaddy’s Seafood (Houma Christian), 3-0, on the road.
J.P. Dupuy tossed a two-hitter in a complete-game effort to earn the victory. In five innings, he surrendered two walks and fanned three.
Offensively, William LaRocca and Kyle Ring each finished 1-for-2 with an RBI for Skipper’s.
Skipper’s (4-7) will return to action Thursday when it travels to face the Diamondbacks. Junior varsity action is set for a 5 p.m. start with varsity to follow at 7 p.m.
Praxair shuts
out Halimar
Praxair shut out Halimar Shipyard, 2-0, in Swampland action on the road Tuesday.
Adam Dupuis suffered the loss in relief, surrendering two runs in two innings.
Blake Hidalgo started the game and received a no-decision, fanning eight in four innings.
Offensively, Halimar was limited to just three hits as Bryce Grizzaffi, Tyler Longman and Sammy Spitale each finished 1-for-3.
Halimar (2-7) will return to action today when it travels to face Taco Bell in a makeup game of Monday’s rainout. The varsity-only contest will be played at 5 p.m.
