Community Concert Association announces 2016-17 lineup

Floyd Cloutier, president of the Community Concert Association of Morgan City Inc., recently announced the artists for the association’s 2016- 2017 season and called the lineup “perhaps the best yet.”
Members have received the new subscription forms which should be returned as soon as possible.
CCA’s booking company, Live on Stage of Nashville, chooses entertainers from around the country and the world that will fit a variety of musical tastes, giving local groups every advantage to sell out the season.
All concerts are held in the Schreier Theatre of the Morgan City Municipal Auditorium and begin at 7 p.m. Subscriptions for the six-concert season are $47 for Adults and $10.50 for Students, K-12.
Patron plans include Bronze Patron, $156, for four tickets; Silver Patron, $364 for 10 tickets; and Gold Patron, $624 for 20 tickets.
Because the state of Louisiana levied a 4 percent entertainment tax on all ticket sales as of
July 1, the ticket price reflects that tax. Beginning this season, tickets to individual concerts will be sold with adult prices of $26 and students, $5.20 each.
The acclaimed Mark Collie will open the season on Tuesday, Sept. 27. With five major-label albums, he has performed onstage with many, including Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney and Johnny Cash, and written hits for Garth Brooks, Alabama, Tim McGraw and George Jones. Collie has won awards for his music, acting, and philanthropy and brings high energy to his shows.
Performing Tuesday, Nov. 1, will be Melinda Doolittle, who has been wowing audiences from the White House to the Musicians Hall of Fame, from the Kennedy Center to Carnegie Hall. Simon Cowell of American Idol said she is the “one who should have won,” in season six of the show.
The New York Times said she is “one of the most phenomenally gifted singers in years. “
Globally renowned concert pianist Alina Kiryayeva brings her artistry to Morgan City on Monday, Nov. 21. She enchants audiences with her charismatic stage presence and has performed in more than a dozen countries. Performing brilliant light classical music, she connects with every age audience.
Victoria Banks, most nominated female artist in Canadian country music, writes what she feels, and these are the things that need to be said, that people ask for at her shows. Her list of accolades is long and she is a unique breath of fresh air. Banks performs on Wednesday, Feb. 1.
“Portraits of America,” starring George Bugatti, American singer-pianist and songwriter, visits here on Tuesday, April 11. He made his concert debut with the legendary Tony Bennett and attended the Juilliard School. Studying music since the age of 5, he later discovered a new hidden talent, his voice.
Closing out the season will be Equinox Little Big Band on Thursday, May 18, with Louisiana native Jeremy “The Kingpin” Davis (tenor sax and vocals) and Clay “Mr. Showtime” Johnson, (the voice and the trombone). They have been featured all across the country from Los Angeles to New York City.
