Abbeville woman in jail for waving a gun

Waving a gun at another driver landed an Abbeville woman in the jail, Sheriff Mark Hebert reported.
Angelle R. Broussard, of Abbeville, was arrested Wednesday at 6:57 p.m. on charges of driving under suspension, resisting an officer, misrepresentation during booking and aggravated assault with a firearm.
A deputy was dispatched to a report of a female subject waving a gun inside a vehicle that was traveling on US 90 in the Franklin area. The deputy reportedly located the pickup truck and the female driver matching the complainant’s description and conducted a traffic stop.
After pulling over, the driver of the vehicle exited the truck, yelling, and approached the deputy in an aggressive manner.
The deputy issued multiple commands to stop. The suspect reportedly refused to comply. As the deputy detained her, the suspect attempted to pull away.
Through the course of the investigation, the deputy reportedly found evidence that the suspect, later identified as Broussard, waved a handgun at another driver on the roadway. The weapon was recovered from the truck.
Broussard was transported to the parish jail. During booking, the deputy reportedly learned that Broussard had initially given a false name and that she was operating the vehicle with a suspended license.
No bail is set.
