Franklin All-Stars capture Dixie Youth 2016 10U Louisiana AAA State Championship

(Submitted by Emily Hidalgo)
The 10-year-old All-Star team from Franklin will be representing the state of Louisana in the World Series held in Laurel, Miss. after a heartfelt win for the state title this past Saturday.
The team wore purple necklaces and shoelaces in memory of Franklin’s Mayci Breaux, one of the young women killed in the Lafayette theater shooting exactly a year ago from that date.
The boys had to play the best two out of three games against West Carrol in Alexandria and pulled out a nail-biting win in the third game. The final score was 10-9. Before the third game was held, the Louisiana state director of Dixie Youth Baseball decided to take a moment of silence to remember Mayci Breaux instead of the National Anthem, which was sung earlier that morning.
After the win, the boys were given their new Lousiana jerseys so they can represent the state in the World Series. The fact that the jerseys happened to be purple was icing on the cake.
The World Series will be held in Laurel, Mississippi on August 5 through 11. Team Louisiana will face Team Florida in their first game on Aug. 5. They hope to bring home the championship trophy on Aug. 11 and ask for many prayers of support along the way.
