Franklin 10U All-Stars champs head to World Series

Send-off parade in Franklin Wednesday begins on Main Street

A team comprised of All-Star baseball players from Franklin will roar into Mississippi soon as they represent St. Mary Parish in the 10 year-old and under Dixie Youth World Series after winning the state title by defeating West Carrol in Alexandria last weekend.
Wearing purple shoelaces and necklaces in honor of Franklin’s own Mayci Breaux, one of the Lafayette theater shooting victims, the Franklin All-Stars went the distance against West Carrol, winning two out of three games. The team narrowly squeaked out a win in the third game by a score of 10-9 to advance to the big show in Laurel, Miss. beginning Aug. 5.
And in an ironic and poignant occurrence of serendipity, the jerseys presented to the team after their victory to represent the state of Louisiana in the 10U World Series, were also the color purple.
There will be a parade Wednesday beginning at 5:30 p.m. to celebrate the 10-year-old Franklin All-Stars. Participants will line up for the parade on Jackson Street, beginning at 5 p.m.  The parade will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Main Street, flow to Wilson and end at the pavilion on Teche Drive.
